I bought a gallon of this stuff about a month ago but never really found a good way to apply it until now.

It is a waterbased product and really thick! I run it through a spray bottle but it doesn't really spray out. On mist setting it comes out like it is on the stream setting. It is fine this way though.

Previously, I would try to spray it on and try to spread it around with a folded towel but it was a PITA. I couldn't get into all the nooks and crannies of the tires and it took too long to apply the dressing so I went back to trying to use Pro's Premo dressing which is really hard to apply evenly because it is meant as a vinyl dressing, not a tire dressing. I wanted to stay with a waterbased product. I only use a solvent based dressing for my wheel wells.

Well I found a extra foam paintbrush I had. A nice big 3" one! I though this would make apply it easy. So I went out and sprayed some of the stuff around on the tire and went to work painting. As soon as the brush got loaded up with dressing it was sooooo easy to apply.

I could go up to a tire, spray a few spots on the tire, and then go to work brushing. I could get into all the letters, I could get right up to the rim without getting any dressing on the rim. This would be great for people with chrome rims because everyone knows getting dressing off chrome is a real pain! The stuff is also thick so you can spray it on a spot on the tire and it won't run! It'll just sit there and wait for you to come around and spread it with the brush.

This may sound like it takes awhile but it really doesn't. It may take 45 seconds a tire.

Now, when you brush it on it is kinda streaky looking. It spreads out as you let it sit awhile though. If you like the super high shine, then leave it this way.

I let it sit on my truck's tires overnight and then came out in the morning and buffed it off quickly. Buffing off the stuff produces a nice, bright black tire! Still pretty shinney but not as bright as some of the other dressings. I'm gonna reapply it and then buff it down some more. I'll try to get pictures of it posted.

Here is a picture of a tire with Premo dressing on it. This stuff doesn't last very long. The shine is almost exactly like this though. It is somewhat out of focus though, sorry. Better picture tomorrow, I promise... I mean, I'll try to get one

 

Off topic a bit, but do you think a foam paintbrush would work for applying Meguiars High Endurance? The tires on our 4Runner have little ridges spaced very closely on the side walls that are a PITA for applying the dressing.

 

Yes it will. I use a smaller 1" foam brush for applying dressing to trim. Home Depot actually sells them in sets of like one 1" foam brush, a 2" and a 3", which is why I had a 3" one lying around

 

I will have to go over to your house this weekend, and take a look at how you do this process.

Is it me or is that picture of your tire just a bit out of focus?

 

Oops, guess I should have read the last line of your post!! Anyway, if it doesn't last long why bother? I used Meguiar's Endurance and it is great on an all black tire but impossible on RWL tires. Bought some Armor-All Detailer's Advantage Foam for the RWL tires and it works great and it lasts, on my wife's Explorer the shine will last well over a week. And it is very easy to remove the overspray from the wheels.

 

So how well does this stuff work.

 

It lasted about 4 days and then it rained. Tires went back to normal grey. I don't have to worry about cleaning off browning from the tires!

I'm about to apply it to tires on a few different vehicles. I'll see how long it lasts.
