Used the NXT tech wax for a few years. I love how easy it is and looks great. But in the Florida sun I've noticed it doesn't even last a month. I always apply it at dusk and never in direct sun. I wax the entire vehicle and let it cure for about 20 minutes. I'm applying and buffing correctly but it just doesn't last. After about 3 weeks I get little to no water beading.

What's a harder more durable wax that you guys recommend? Preferably something I can pick up at a parts store and that won't destroy my arm when buffing.

That collinite does last a really long time. And it is super cheap.

 

Collinite 845 and then either Duragloss 105 or 501 mixed with or applied over 601.

 

Have to ask how are you washing and drying your truck if you only get 3 weeks out of NXT.

That is a polymer based LSP, should last longer than 3 weeks.

845 is great stuff, but it is wax. It has a flash point of 140*, which puts the melting point lower than that.

I ask about washing & drying, as if you are only getting 3 weeks out of a polymer based LSP, something else appears to be going on.
Poly should not be off that quick.

845 will be gone quicker than a poly based LSP.

Merlin has Silver F150, but something tells me he LSPs more than I do.

 

The absolute best ($ for $) IMHO is "Profection Paint Sealant (P-73-Q)…" (for light colors), it is made by BAF & distributed through Pro Car Care products. It is very easy to work with either by hand, orbital or buffer. It has the same acrylic hardener as the high dollar paint sealants ....no, your arm will not fall off putting it on or taking it off & it has a very mild polish in it as well. Even parking the vehicle outside, the MFG gives a 6 months warranty before another application is required.

An excellent alternate product is 3M Perfect It Show Car Liquid Wax- a silicone wax/polish but excellent results as well, just maybe about 90% of the quality of the satin cream (a carnuba).

Available at any True Value Hardware; Mfg by RainDance/ArmorAll Corp. It has been around for 40+ years, is a powder, very inexpensive and use about 1 tablespoon per 3 gallons. It also has anti-water spotting agents which until you try it the first time, you would not believe the advantage of drying a black car.....it is very friendly to wax/sealants

 

Keep using the NXT, but after EVERY wash, spend 15 minutes with some Megs Ultimate Quik Wax spray. It's literally spray and wipe, as easy to use as a QD. It will boost the polymers.

 

Agree, NXT is horrible when it comes to durability(I gave my bottle away). I've tested Collinite 845, Duragloss 601/105 and Zaino Z-2/ZFX. For me, Zaino seems to last about 2 months longer then the others during a typical Michigan winter. I've heard that Klasse High Gloss Paint sealant is the most durable sealant on the market but I have yet to pick some up to test against Zaino. If it matters, the 601/105 did outlast 845 during one of my 50/50 winter hood tests.

 

As far as washing and drying - I did not wash or dry in that three weeks. The wax was not touched, didn't even get rained on in between.

Just used this today. 2 coats. Awesome, used it for a few years now.

 

Time to toss that junk in the trash can then. If it cannot last 3 weeks without rain or being washed, it is complete junk for a poly LSP. Std wax I would understand having this issue that far south.

I started using Menz Power Lock, due to TS recommending it to me, and have great results with it on Dark Stone.

It is a sealant that is applied like a normal LSP ( not a Wipe on Walk Away ), no thought process needed like some WOWA sealants.

Did a multi month review of OptiSeal vs Powerlock over at the Cafe.
Initial application, QD touch up and results after washing.
No boost or reload type applications on them ( did a gloss QD last @ ~ 30 days in, but this is gloss only, no actual protection in that QD ).

If you use Zaino products correctly, the shine lasts a LONG time. I've used NXT also and while the shine is just as good as Zaino, it does not last very long.

 

My personal favorite for longevity is Collinite 845 topped with Meg's #16.

 

That is a very hard combo to beat.
