Griots Garage?

I was in the local Advance Auto not long ago to buy some supplies, and I noticed they are now stocking a new line of products called Griot's Garage. I've never heard of them before so I was wondering if anyone has used these products? If so, what kind of results did you have and how did it compare too the big name brands like Mothers and Turtle wax?

Wow seriously? You never heard of GG? There products are pretty decent. I was using them for few years way back. I use to use there polish and best of show wax. I currently still use there DA, wheel cleaner, pads, some rags, micro fibers, detail tools etc. Course there not the only products I use though. Now I'm really diggin Poorboys and various different pads and micro fibers. There worth a try.

Check them out.

If you are serious about detailing, you should throw anything that says Turtle Wax into the trash - or give it to some kid that doesn't know any better. Mothers is generally acceptable, as is Meguiar's, but the REAL detailers here use products that generally have to be obtained online or from professional detailers supply houses.

The only turtle wax product I use is the chrome polish/rust remover, and I've been thoroughly pleased with it. I know that the stuff you can't buy in stores is much better, but for me mothers has been good and havent looked to see the prices of the proffesional stuff, which would be a major consideration. I'm confident I can do a real good job with what Ive got, cause its more of a side thing for me. Im not a proffesional so I havent stepped up to those products, even though I know they are superior. I appreciate the input, however, its not the information I'm looking for.

I have bought stuff from GG in the past, somewhere around 93-96 area.

They are expanding quite rapidly now, even Amazon carries GG stuff direct, so it is free shipping if prime member.

Good quality stuff, but kind of pricey if you ask me.

Personally, I've always thought of Griot's Garage as a place that cater's to the yuppie that just bought a new BMW and now considers himself a hard-core "car guy". These cats have usually got lots of cash but would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the power steering reservoir and the coolant overflow tank on their vehicles.....

However, they're more than happy to spend big bucks on boutique polishes and detailing gadgets that will likely do nothing more than collect dust in their garage after they've been used one time and they realize you actually have to break a sweat when you're detailing a car.....

Not bad products, but they tend to be marketed towards guys that have more money than brains.....

No question about that.
It is not cheap and now I know the same ( better ) can be found for a lower price under a lower price.

back 2 decades ago, it was a single stop to get stuff that worked. Unless you got a catalog that had another product line you were stuck.

I don't use any of their detailing chemicals, but the GG 6" DA buffer is the best (most powerful) out there. Check any of the major detailing sites for reviews.

GG is a complete rip-off. They simply re-brand products for distribution under their name. If you want real supplies, go here: http://www.detailersdomain.com/

Plenty. I ran a detailing shop for a few years...let me go back and show you some examples..I'll have to look them up. But everything from the chemicals to the tools are generally re-branded by them.

You can find a discussion about this same topic here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-Griots-Garage
