Review of that kit, with pics:

Since I bought it, he has replaced the M85 with M105. It should work just as well, if not better.

For the Price it's hard to beat the kit. If you already have some of the stuff in the kit it's pretty easy to complete it at any auto store (sub the M105 for Ultimate Compound) and away you go!

I've seen some kits with M205 instead of the Plastic X, but I think (anyone correct me if I'm wrong) that the PlasticX have more UV protectants than M205 would have.

I guess if you keep them waxed, it wouldn't make too much of a difference anyway.

Good luck!

Even M205 is harsher than PlastX, and it has no UV protectants whatsoever. UC is a good sub for the M85/M105. Use with a cutting pad, the kit gives you a wool pad for it.

Don't use wax on the headlights, use PlastX. If you use a pad, use a finishing pad, the kit gives you a foam pad for it.

Curious, but why wouldn't you wax your headlights. I've waxed mine for at least 10 years now as part of any exterior detail. I now use NXT 2.0 to stand up to the heat a little better than Carnuba. I've had great results and haven't had to do anything to my trucks lights in 8 1/2 years.

Because PlastX is made specifically for things like that.

This easy-to-use, rich gel formula quickly restores optical clarity to both rigid and flexible clear plastics. Cutting-edge advancements in Meguiar’s® exclusive Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive™ Technology (MDAT) remove light oxidation, chemical degradation, surface contamination, stains and light surface scratches with ease. Special highly water resistant polymers provide long lasting durable protection to keep your clear plastics clear and beautiful longer. We recommend applying PlastX with a High Tech Applicator Pad or Ultra Plush Super Terry and using an Ultra Plush Super Terry or Supreme Shine® Microfiber for the final wipe-off.

I would certainly recommend a syth wax/sealer over a caranuba wax for headlights. But a good caranuba is better then nothing.

Cool,

Maybe I will switch to PlasticX on all my lights, I have a bottle of it somewhere. never had it before last year, so I have always just used wax.
