Faded Exterior Plastic

I don't know if there have been posts in the past about this, but I'm sure others have had the same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to restore the black plastic trim pieces? The fender flares, windshield cowl and the plastic tie-downs on my Flareside FX4 have faded really bad. I've tried Back to Black, Turtle Wax Ice and Armor All. Aside from buying all new trim pieces, does anyone have any suggestions on how to restore the plastic to a normal look? It started when the truck was still under warranty and the dealer did nothing to help.

On the saddle bags & inner faring panels on my Kawi ( ZG, black bags & inner faring panels ) I use Black Jack Black again.

It is UV activated, so after applying it needs to sit in direct sun light.

Not sure if this is doable this time of year for you or not. I would leave the bags sitting in the sun for about 3 hours after applying, and they would be black again. Over time they would start to get milky grey again after use, and I would need to reapply it. The time between applications depended upon how much the bike was in the sun.

Thanks! I'll look at both suggestions and see what I'll do. Every time I put the Back to Black on the plastic, it would look great for about a week and then fade again. If there was rain, I would get the drip lines down the side of the flares and it would look horrible. If this doesn't work, it looks like aftermarket flares.

Exactly. Back to Black is total garbage, the only thing it's good for is removing dried wax from plastic.

Black Wow is an excellent dressing when used VERY SPARINGLY as per directions. Showroom New Restorer is an excellent dye, apply it with a foam paint brush.

I've used Showroom New before. It worked and lasted longer than I had the car after I re-dyed the trim.

My brother put me onto Forever Black products and they work like a charm.
