Question California Car Duster

Has anybody used this thing. What was your experience with it. I am very concerned about scratching my truck since it is like blue, black. Thanks for the help.

I've been using one since i got my truck in March. As long as you have a good coat of wax on the truck it should be ok. It's supposed to be treated with a special compound to lift the dust. Plus I've seen a lot classic car buffs using them at car shows, but who knows.
Also the little dash dust is great for the inside of the truck as well as the door jams.

Hey steveo:
I am about as picky as they come about my vehicle's finish. Since my truck is black, everything shows. I use the California Car Duster to take off the dust film that seems to build all the time. I have had no problems with it harming my paint. It's a great product. One thing to keep in mind, though: the fibers are treated with a kind of wax, and it will leave little smears here and there. But, they come right off with the next wash.

Cool

I have also seen many California dusters used at car shows, and if you think about it for a second, you can bet every vehicle there probably has several coats of wax. We drive our trucks on a daily basics and in order for the CD to work properly (no paint scratches, streaking on the paint) you should apply a good coat or two of wax. The California duster just glides over the paint. After 3 or 4 runs along the paint, I shake it out to remove any loose particles, then continue wiping. It doesn't work so well on the windshield as Selva1 mentioned, it leaves little streaks, not from the duster but from the dirt and bugs. I love mine and only paid $8.25 for it. I also use the California water blade. That works like a dream. You have to wash your vehicle by hand though and use plenty of water, this removes ALL the dirt, unlike the do-it-yourself car washers that use those high pressure sprayers.

The dusters are great. When you have a new one, wrap it in newspaper to absorb the excess parfin wax that is in the mop head. This will keep the duster from leaving streaks on the paint. Also, don't use it on a hot surface.

I absolutely love that thing. I keep one in my truck at all times. Since my truck is dark (torreador red metallic)dust shows real bad, especially on hood. Since I'm ****, my truck has to be perfect all the time, so I use it a few times a day, with great results. It does "lift" the dust instead of pushing it around. You can see me using it in a parking lot of a store and everything. I get tons of compliments on my trucks finish, and people want to know how I keep it that way. I never tell them though..(F150online secret)

Thanks to all of you guys, I spoke to Mudder last night and he also loves it. So I am off to the store to buy one. I seen that Wal-Mart has one for like 10.00 compared to buying it directly from the company.

I agree with F&B re the California water blade...it's a fabulous product. It used to take two towels to dry my truck but now it only takes one towel and that one's not as wet as the other two used to get. The blade really makes drying my truck much faster. I highly recommend it.

I was surprised to see you liked the water blade.
I bought one, used it once and thought it was a pain and took way longer to dry, especially around the wheel wells, so I took it back. I use "the absorber" and they don't cost $20. It works better than a towel and lasts longer than a chamois.

I've been using the california duster for almost 11 years now. I've never had a problem with it. Over that amount of time I've saved a fortune in car washing cost.

All4Chem: I really do like the Water Blade. Yeah, it works best on flat surfaces and can't get into the curves spots very well, but, all-in-all, it really does save me a lot of time and towels. I recommend it.

I have the water blade and the absorber. The absorber works great but you are always wringing it out, then sometimes it will leave a little bit of water on the surface. The water blade is fast and no wringing, just don't use it on a dirty truck because it can scratch.
