product to remove sticky residue

[IMG][/IMG]

These broke off and now I am trying to get off the sticky tape that held them on? Does anybody know a good product that can get it off?

The tape will have to be pulled and worked off. The glue will come off with Goo Gone or with WD 40.

Saturating an area of the remaining tape with Goo Gone and then working the majority of it off with your fingertips is probably your best bet. Then finish up with a cloth that has been dampened with Goo Gone and you should be good-to-go. I did something similar in removing the faux gas cap from the tail panel of my Mustang and this process seemed to work best.

FYI --be prepared for your fingertips to be very sore after this process -- I felt as if the tips of my fingers had been worn raw after spending an hour or so working on this project.....

I agree, Goo Gone is good to use in this case. Saturate the sticky parts and work it out with your fingernail. I had to do that when I changed my emblems for customized ones as the glue stayed on the truck and not the stock emblems I had just taken off. Took me a long time to do, probably 1-2 hours per emblem but eventually got it all. The time it takes for you to remove the sticky residue depends on how "sticky" your glue is...

Try 3M Adhesive remover, you can get it from any body shop supply store, even many NAPA's have it.

Just did my wife's Taurus last week. Used mineral spirits to get the thick stuff off, then final clean-up with goo-gone on a cloth. By the way. customer servive at AVS (owned by Lund) was excellent. Had a broken visor on both the Taurus'. Sent them a letter with pics and copies of receipts and had new ones (full set) in about a week.
