Post OFF-ROAD SCRATCHES...HELP!!!

I went off roading in my 98 Expedition. The trails were TIGHT in spots... I ended up with both side scratched to hell!

Whats the best way to remove them? I know some are too deep! I put a fresh coat of wax on it last summer so maybe it helped?

What to do? Or is there anything?

rand. unless you keep your truck hermetically sealed all day long that coat of wax was gone 3 months after you put it on, and it wouldn't have protected against the scratches anyway.

Cool

I had a 92 Mazda I used to four wheel all the time. It was immaculate, except for when I got back from wheeling. I had all the "rub" marks from branches down both sides. I used Meguiars Body Scrub, and then waxed it. It really did a nice job. If you're feeling pretty lazy, the color match (eeh) wax will work to cover them, but they will only show up again later down the road.

I sometimes get a few scratches. Got a nasty one when I slid off a sand dune and into some brush -- S-C-R-A-T-C-H

Washed and waxed it and you can't tell. It makes a big difference in results depending on how "waxed" you keep your truck. If you never do it, the paint will get damaged. If you keep it up, the wax scratches and protects the paint to a point(pun intended).

It's times like this that I wish I had a white truck.

Hey Rand,
It sounds like you have quite a few deep scratches. If this is the case, perhaps take it to a good body shop and have them take a look at them. They should be able give you a few options.
I use the "Zaino" line of products. If there "aren't too many" deep scratches and most are fairly shallow. I've used and recommend Zaino Z-1 (Polish-Lok) & Z-5 (Scratch and Swirl remover). It's a series of steps you preform. First, Z-1 (Polish-Lok) and then Z-5. You only have to use Z-1 on the initial start, it's a prep for the polish (Z-5).... then you just need to apply Z-5. It will probably take a few applications, but it works great and will take out your shallow scratches.
For me, the Zaino products are impressive and I've been very happy with them. The only down-side is that you're usually not going to find Zaino products at your local auto store and they are a little pricey. If you want to check Zaino out, just link on www.zainobros.com you can find out everything there.
If you want an alternative that would be at your local auto store, 3M Polishing foam pad and a good wax after (Meguiars, 3M, Mothers).
Good Luck....
