Zaino Anyone?
Hi everyone,
Thanks for making this site the greatest place to get fresh ideas and honest opinions on Ford Trucks. Ok that having been said ... Zaino claims to be all that .. in fact one user said use Sal's product and you will never use anthing else again. I am not sure if that was Sal's cousin or not .. but to send Sal a check in the mail and wait as opposed to runnin down to Al's Auto Supply for LG requires a bit of extra effort. What I want to know from Zaino users is ... can I get the deepest .. wettest .. longest lasting .. and easiest to apply .. finish from this prduct? I mean in other words ... is it really all that?
Thanks

Well, lets see. I've used it for a couple of months now and I've like it so far. It DOES give you a good "wet look" finish if you start with good paint and follow the directions to the letter. The cost is a little on the high side, about $60 for the starter kit. The protection is better than I thought it would be, 2-week old tree sap washed right off. Long lasting? Well, I don't beleive it lasts any longer than any other good quality wax: about 3 months of daily driving and regular car washes; unless you keep your truck in a plastic bag. Easy to apply, yes, it's very easy ... if you have all weekend. It's a series of creams which go on and off with little effort, however, they take hours to dry, as long as a day if the weather is cold or humid.
As I've said before I have a small detailing business, and I'll continue to use Zaino on my truck because I like the results, a deep shine and a silky smooth feel; and I'm a fanatic about my truck. BUT, I won't use it on my customers' cars 'cause I just don't have the time. Hope this helps.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've been a die hard Meguire's fan for years, but decided to try Zaino on my brand new truck because of all the glorious reviews. I haven't been dissappointed. I'm as picky as can be about the finish of my vehicles (I also have a 65 Galaxie show car done in several coats of hand rubbed laquer- what an effort to keep up), especially with black. My only other concern is that it magnifies Ford's minor paint flaws (orange peel). I give it the thumbs up, but am still new to it and would also appreciate anyone who has anything negative to say about it's performance.

Hi Guys ...
Thanks for the posts. I will give it a try and post a progress report later. I have a question ... as I often do. My 1998 truck has an outstanding finish. I had the detail shop remove the swirl marks. I am ... like you guys, very picky so I will apply Z-5 until I get all of the swirls out that I can.
My question is ... do you think I need to clay bar first? I have no water marks and can't notice anything to warrent this extra step. I am not really lazy ... just old and tired ... LOL ... well ok a little lazy. Let me know what you think.
Thanks Again

It depends. After you wash it, rub your hand across the surface. If you feel any irregularities/bumps, then use the clay bar. It's well worth the extra step to start out with a smooth surface. My truck was brand new before I did the Zaino, but I still used the clay, due to a little Zeibart undercoating overspray and to remove any "rail dust" that may have stuck to the clearcoat from that long train ride from Ontario. Good luck. I'm curious if you'll like it as much as we do. Let us know.....

I'd use the clay if I were you. Like selva said, if you feel ANYTHING on the paint after washing it, take the clay bar to it; it should feel smooth as glass when you're done.

Maybe you just didn't use enough coats of Z-5. Or, as Sal said, you may have to use a standard polish first to remove the swirls before starting the Zaino system.
