The most famous wax test

From Guru Reports: Enjoy

The products were evaluated on:

price
amount of water beads using 500ml of water
bead size
shine
gloss
depth
clarity
reflectivity
slickness
color enhancement
overall impression, and given a final grade in GPA format.

Durability was also measured for each product and showed results after each week of environmental abuse (all at the same time) and after washing.

The grading was done in an A+ to F- fashion to form a GPA, and the results are below. This is not a bible, but its a very good indication of real world performances and how well they performed pitted against one another--how far your dollar really stretches.

**************

1. Zaino Brother's Polish - second best looking and most durable of
all of the products. One of the only products to survive a week
long snow storm. Still provided protection after 7 months in the
elements. Most superior product and in the top 3 for ''looks'' too.

2. P21S Concours-look Carnuba - first best looking, then Zaino's
durability takes over after 3 weeks
3. Klasse All-in-One and Sealant Glaze
4. Armor All Protective Barrier
5. Pinnacle Souveran - third best looking, smells like
coconut/banana and downright edible, Zaino's durability takes over
after 3 weeks
6. Pinnacle Paste Glaze Carnuba
7. Rain Dance Premium - name doesn't imply best protection, go for
Zaino
8. Mother's California Gold Carnuba Cleaner - availability is
awesome
9. Collinite Marque D'Elegance
10. Mother's California Gold Pure Carnuba
11. Blackfire
12. Collinite Super Doublecoat - good for at lesat 3 months of
protection, even through ''touch'' drive through car washes several
times a month, on par with a synthetic for protection
13. Blitz One Grand
14. Turtle Wax Finish 2001
15. Eagle One Wet Polish and Wax
16. Griot's Garage Carnuba Paste Wax
17. Nu Finish
18. Meguiar's Gold Class
19. Turtle Wax Emerald Series
20. Prestone Bullet Eax
21. Griot's Garage Best of Show
22. Meguiar's Medallion
23. Turtle Eax Super Hard Shell
24. 3M Perfect-IT Show Car Paste
25. Meguiar's #26 Hi-Tech
26. Meguiar's #16 Paste Wax

I dropped about $80 on a basic kit of zaino wax way back around the time Meguire's released NXT. My buddy bought the NXT, and swore it was better than my more expensive Zaino. We washed our trucks at the same time, and same place for about a month without waxing and it was downright clear the Zaino lasted longer in terms of beading- hands down.

I also had a red truck, and his was silver...red is notorious for needing new wax almost weekly to look good, yet with Zaino I could go a month or more on washes alone and it looked stunning.

Still have Zaino laying around- but I use NXT because Zaino is such a PITA to apply!

ive got zaino out what wawho lol i use to use other waxes and polishes but after one use of zaino ill never go away from it, it looks better, goes on eaiser, and is eaiser to remove. plus you dont have to put gobs of it on for it to work either, just one light coat and it will last 3 weeks easy. if i ever want it to shine really good i use zaino and top it off with meguiars gold wax for a really good deep shine. if you look in the pic below you can see a reflection of a sidewalk in the side of my truck, that side walk is about 20 ft away, getting a shine like that is pretty hard to do with yellow but zaino does it easy.

Thing that I noticed; Armor All Protective Barrier coming in ahead of Pinnacle Souveran. Meguiars didn't even show up till 18th? And raked below, Nu-Finish? Sheesh! This is a real eye opener.

I don't think it so much the water bead itself, but more of the size of the bead. Ya know, bigger the bead, the less the wax was protecting.

I saw some pictures of this test before and I believe it was on the Road Fly detail forums. This is what determined their testing durability anyway.

I think I'm like most, I'd give up durability issues for a better shine. At least during the summer months. Seems Zaino has this covered both sides of the fence.

yeah zaino really has dont that, but during summer im much like you i go for shine more than anything, yeah i still want protection for my clear coat because hot summerdays can really hurt that, but i usually wash my truck once or twice a week anyways.

any test that ranks Meg's gold class above #26 and #16 for durability is smoking something.

as far as I know, no one has ever done a scientific measurment of durability of all of these products. Simply measuring the size of the water beads is not an accurate measurement of durability.

I agree,I bought into the whole NXT thing that everyone said was great and waxed the truck about a month ago, while the shine and slickness of the body was great it only lasted a few weeks, now the water hardly beads anymore and doesn't run off as your driving it just streaks back, slowly.
I have used Mequires cleaner wax for years and loved it, now that I can compare it to something else in my opinion it still wins over the NXT wax, the water beads and the paint shine much longer then NXT.

From what I've tried, I would completely agree with Zaino covering all areas. I used to use NXT, and after reading post on this forum, I threw down the cash for Zaino. It made an amazing difference, and it even last a Missouri winter. I can't wait for it to stop raining so that I can refresh it. The pictures below are of the first Zaino process. Highly recommended, but it is a PITA to put on.

i would really like to know why you guys think its a pita to put on, ive never had trouble with it, also i love how you dont have to do it in swirls, and i also love the swirl and scratch remover, it works very well.

Zaino is the best in my opinion, hands down. I use it on my Mustang and man does it look incredible!

The Zaino Leather-in-a-Bottle is the best leather cleaner/conditioner that you can buy also.

Perfect example of how incredibly SUBJECTIVE this market can be... one person's gold is another person's limestone -- geologically speaking, of course.

I don't put any stock in a report like that... I'll learn what I like for myself.

Z is great stuff. Further, there are some other great products that aren't on the list. There are some crummy products, in my opinion, that are near the top of the list...

Opinions are like a-holes... everyone's got one.

BTW, this has been posted here no fewer than 20 times.

RP hits the nail on the head yet again. There is not going to be a list out there that tells you exactly what the best product on the market is. For instance, a lot of you guys love Zaino but to me it gives way to much of a saran wrap look which I can't stand.

I bet if they did a report on tire shines that Meguiars Endurance would be somewhere midway through the list. Personally I think it's the best tire shine on the market, hands down.
