The most famous wax test
The GURU Reports attempted a rational/reasonable test to determine the quality of waxes. It is qualitative in nature and subject to the individual opinion of the testers (much like a lot of automotive tests in magazines). However, it did subject similar panels to similar conditions so it is better information than my car shines better than his....
Consumer Reports did this same type of testing with wood preservatives for wood decking.
Do I use what was ranked number one in their test? Heck no, being it was a solid color based stain. I want the natural clear wood finish which is ranked the worst in their independent test. I just have to apply it more often, if you get my drift.

Why not? I know which products work for me and no test results that I read are going to change my stubborn mind.
