Smoke in cabin
Smoke in cabin
My truck was parked outside our hotel that just burned this Saturday. Smoke is impregnated into the cabin and sut was all over the paint. I managed to clean the outside pretty good and I cleaned the inside seats and dash with a cleaner/protectant and sprayed some orange deodorizer that is supposed to be pretty good. Regardless the interior still smells pretty bad everytime I get in. What do you guys recommend to try to get the smell out of the cabin??? Shampoo the carpet? any good stuff to take odors out? thanks.:o
Going to be a tough fix because, as you've noted, the 'smell' will be everywhere within the cab; not only in the fabrics.
One of your best bets is to find a reputable detailer to work on the interior. A ozone machine will do the trick...

Thanks for the response guys. I think I will have to do a combination of both your inputs. Maybe pay a few hundred dollars for a full detail. This really STINKS (in more ways than one)
it is said "all heals with time" hopefully the smell will follow that saying. Thanks again.

I don't know how well this one works :
http://www.autodetailingsolutions.com/Deodorizer.htm
Right at the top of the page : Odor Bomb New Car Scent
One of the items they list it works on is fire smoke ( I looked at it for cig smoke ).
Don't know if this will make it worse or better.
autodetailingsolutions.com has ozone generators for 199.99, so if you planed on spending that just for a detail, and you have the interior already cleaned of the soot, maybe spending the money on your own Ozone Generator.
I am still undecided on which route I am trying for dad, for my '01 SCrew that he now has. Just some ideas that I have been researching on the past 3 weeks, again I am more along the lines of targeting cig smoke, not fire smoke damage, but they seem to have the same in common on the list of usages.
Good luck

Thanks. I'll look into that.
One thing that I forgot about ....
I've read several people talking about OZIUM... that might be a cheap fix -- I've seen it at Wally World... *shrugs*

Hmmm... I tell ya!
tried any febreze fabric refresher?
get it at grocery stores, sam's, walmart etc... and i like a clean smelling truck all the time because its not for work. i use glade scented car oil air fresheners. you buy refills of the fragrance you like and i clip mine to the vents in my super cab under the seat so noboby sees them. you still may want the full detailing done first but this is a good place i found to keep them out of site and seems to scent the whole cabin better instead of clipped on your vent blowing in someone's face.
