wax off of plastic mouldings?
just got my o4 back from the second body shop.....they must use a 4 yr old when detailing! alot of places got wax, or whatever they used to buff and polish the truck on some black mouldings. now i have these areas that have turned white! i was going to try back to black to see if i can clean it up. any better solutions? thanks.
Once you get wax on the moldings it is a PITA to get off. Some guys have tried Magic Eraser and had success. Best to try it in an area that isn't going to be easily seen to see how it works for you. If you search for Magic Eraser, you'll find a couple of threads with pros and cons.
Be very careful where you use the Magic Eraser. It can do un-reversable damage.
Consider a product like 3M's Tar and Wax remover or a product like "Wax Blaster" for serious removal of wax and polish from trim.

I have tried alot of the things mentioned here but i have to agree with rta108....the regular school eraser works fantastic......leaves no residue....leaves it looking like new....i keep a handfull of the wedge shaped ones in my cleaning supplies. Works like a charm!!

the service manager called in an outside company that specializes in doing these things. the back to black i tried did not work. also sometime when the truck was being detailed originally they gouged the right front moulding at the wheel well. looked kinda like the chuck from the drill hit it and took out some of the plastic and made it ruff. about the size of a half dollar. that was the bigger reasont the outside company came in to detail the mouldings. got the call and went to look at the truck and don't know how they did it, but not there anymore. will have to see about the white marks since it has only been a week since their fix. so far so good though. the service dept. in pa is sending the bill to the body shop in ny where the 4 yr old messed it up to begin with......anyway will let you all know about how it looks in another week or so.....
Add me to the list of satisfied pink pencil eraser users. Works great for me, although sometimes I have to do it twice (do it once, blow/brush off eraser "dust"; repeat).
Also, Back to Black is not intended to remove wax residue. It just restores the dark color & shine to plastic pieces. Use the eraser first, clean the eraser dust off thoroughly, then use B2B.
