There are a slew of glass cleaners on the market but, only a couple that I've tried and REALLY like...

The first:

STONER'S INVISIBLE GLASS

This product is available just about anywhere that you can buy car care chemicals (wallyworld, etc).

Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner

Again, can be found at many locales. Check Target or Pep Boys as I've seen it at both locations.

I always utilize a top-quality microfiber towel (to avoid linting) on my glass. Further, I keep a can of Stoner's in the house for all the mirrors, windows, and doors. Some say that newspapers are the way to clean the glass but, I've never had a lot of luck with that method... hence, I prefer nice microfiber.

Like RP, I've tried a "bazillion" window cleaners. Also like RP, I've found the NXT and Stoners window cleaner to be excellent, with a slight edge to the NXT window cleaner. The ability to pick them up locally is a definite plus.

Two others that I find excellent are Sprayway and Meguiar's Detailer Series window cleaner. They are a bit tougher to find locally, (if at all) but are also top notch. The Meguiar's Detailer Series window cleaner is by far and away the best value. (1 gal of concentrate makes 11 gallons of great window cleaner)

I use Stoner's with newspaper, and it works really well.

Not only the product!

These two products mentioned are the best BUT you must remember that the towel you use is almost as important. AND cleaning that towel is too. Always! when you wash out your towels be that Microfiber or something else to remember to NOT use any fabric softener in the wash. Some folks use only newspaper. Never use any type of paper hand towels. The fabric softener and stuff in the paper towels will leave streaking on your windows.

Stoners Invisable Glass is one of the few I have used that does not leave a film. It is great. Old newpaper is good if it is not real dirty.

I'll post my question here rather than a new thread since this is about window cleanning. We have very hard water where I live and I'll be damned if I can get the water spots off my windows (I have no idea if the two things are related, but it's the only thing I can think of). I've tried the NXT window cleaning spray and it doesn't even make a dent. Any suggestions?

For tough water spots, I use any quality glass cleaner (usually Stoner's) and #0000 Steel Wool. Then, wipe with a quality Microfiber towel. Good luck.

I second Boss429, SprayAway is great, and available at almost any hardware store. if there is a film, the #0000 steel wool is great.
