Looking for a good plastic restorer

It's for my 4 wheeler. It's a 1991 model Yamaha that I bought brand new with my first job in Junior High. Needless to say, after 14 years exposed to the elements, it's really dull and has lots of scratches.

I am not worried about the scratches and gouges, most of them won't come out.

Is there a good product out there that can bring this poor thing back to life?

BTW, its grey.

TIA

:santa:

Is it plastic or some sort of composite?

I call it plastic. I don't think it's anything fancy.

Hmm, not sure on this one.

I'm afraid to polish it as it might dull it out depending on the plastic...

Anyone have any thoughts?

Actually, having owned a few Honda 3 wheelers, I'd be more afraid of melting the surface if I was trying to buff (with a rotarty buffer) to get the color back. You might want to just settle for a coat of 303 protectant. I really don't think there's anything else you can do. Look at the bright side. If you still have factory plastic on any ATV, you're probably lucky. Most folks have the bigger problem of trying to glue the pieces they just broke off back on!

You might want to check around at some 4 wheeler shops as well. Some of them sell a plastic renew kit that is basically a 3 stage polish for your plastic that is supposed to make it look like new again. You have a pretty good color when it comes to plastics. Grey, tan, and yellow tend to hide scratches alot better than reds, greens, blues, dark browns, and blacks. Oh, and if you really want to make it look good, you can have it coated with camouflage. It will have the camo pattern of your choice and is supposed to be very scratch resisant. Here's the link:

Here's a link to a place that actually takes the plastic off of your 4 wheeler and dips it into a vat that has a camouflage pattern in it (your choice again). When they pull the plastic out of the vat, the camo pattern is permenately bonded to the plastic, also supposed to be very scratch resistant.

Pledge or mop&glo will fill most of the scratches, and leave a decent shine.

I use pledge on my Raptor all the time to hide the "brush scratches"...works pretty good.

The three stage one is made by PC Racing. Plastic Renew is the name of the product. You can get from any ATV place, like Rocky mountain ATV or Nacs Racing...

Now we're talking about something I know...

You need a product called Plastic Renew.

Best product like that that you can get, otherwise its time to replace the plastics.

I know where to get very very good prices on OEM Yamaha parts if thats necessary.

Try Mop and Glo. I have seen it used a number of times on Dirt bikes. It really makes it shine and brings back the color.
