Ford factory bedliner

Anybody had problems with the factory spray in bedliner? The liner in my 2018 Lariat is breaking apart. The dealer agrees that it is a factory defect, but Ford will not repair it, even under warranty. Is this an exception to the warranty? Ford won’t answer any letters or emails.

Ford offers a Ford factory spray in bed liner?

I know dealers have some sprayed in by outside vendors, like Line-X, etc. Some even do it in house I'm told, but I had no idea that Ford did it. When you say it's "breaking apart", sounds to me like the underlying bed material (metal) is failing allowing the breaks as bed liners do not offer structure, they just protect the metal. I know Ford once offered Ford branded slide in bed liners, maybe still do.

The liner is sprayed by machine at the factory as an option (The Ford site has a video). It is sprayed on top of the paint. The liner has started to crack over the bed bolts and is breaking into pieces. The dealership has suggested a number of solutions, all shot down by Ford. It looks like the dealership will be replacing the liner on their own dime, which is still unacceptable. Long story short, the liner will not be covered by the 3/36,000 warranty.

If you want to do it right at your own expense, take it to Line-X.

OH! I had no idea Ford was in the "spray in liner" business too. I think I'd just as soon have Line-X as it's so "proven" now, but it's not structural. If the underlying bed rips apart, so goes the liner.

Is your bed aluminum or steel I wonder, any heavy loadings? They spray it in over the bolts huh? And on top of the paint too, not scuffed up?

My truck's Line-X was in mine when I purchased it, but it was sprayed in after the bed bolts were removed and the bolts were put back in after cure it seams (no footprints) as they are not covered but there is Line-x that is compressed under the bolt heads and tie downs (so maybe it was just part cured or the sprayer person hung from a gantry?) . I've been told that's Line-X policy with theirs as if a load is pulled across the sharp edge of the bolts, it'll tear the liner material. The dealer I bought my Undercover hard cover from also did Line-X spray-ins and he said if not done, it affects the Line-X warranty for that very reason.

I finally got answer from Ford from a letter I wrote. I can’t figure out how to attach it, but it essentially says that the bedliner is an exclusion from the 3/36,000 warranty, and sorry about your bad luck. The Dealer did their best to help, but no go. I bought the truck off the lot with the liner already installed. The dealer said that there will not be any more trucks on their lot with the Ford liner.

Sorry, Bear, I did not answer your question. The bed is aluminum and nothing heavier than some bags of mulch. It also has a bed mat. The liner was sprayed over the paint, no scuffing.

Take it to Line-X, get it stripped and done right.
