I don't need to be a lawyer to know common sense...............I have been to court in my life more than once.

Take pics all round and even the roof of the truck before you take it back and have the date showing on the pics. I wouldn't trust the installing dealer at this point. They got caught with there pants down and are possibly somewhat pi**ed off.
As all to many other businesses...when they get real busy, shortcuts get made and quality goes down the drain.
Hope it works out well for you.

I'm not a Lawyer either.

Big whoop! Being to court doesn't make you a legal expert. I've been to doctors many, many more times than you've been to court. Would you let me take out your appendix?

If you have to redo it there I would tell them you want to see it prepped before Line X is applied.

That sucks that you had a bad experience. Calling the headquarters first puts a lot of pressure on the installer to make you happy. I have done what you have done in other business dealings, and although I feel like you do about trusting them, the pressure really is in the guys to keep their license/business. It will probably work out fine, but if it don't the buck stops at the home company. You are covered. Just be respectful to the installers, as you already made your point. Give them a chance to make it right and you may be a return customer.

I'm not totally up to date on the situation, but there's no problem with a redo. A redo is going to happen. The debate is in regards to which dealer is going to do it.

i don't understand the problem.. just take pictures and take it back to the installer to have him fix it. I highly doubt the guy is going to destroy your truck because of his faults. Nothing to lose honestly if you take it back to original guy.

Well, especially considering all the secrecy going on, apparently Line-X's warranty isn't all that great. There should be no debate on where to get the redo; the customer should not be required to go back to clowns who did such a poor job. This should have been settled from the get-go. So much for the nationwide warranty that is supposed to be honored at any dealer.

Looks like my next liner will NOT be Line-X.

Do whatever you like, but you do not have adequate information to make an informed decision in this matter.

The warranty states that if the original dealer is within 100 miles, the customer should return to the original dealer. If there is a problem, it's only fair that the original applicator have a chance to make it right. If the dealer is more than 100 miles away, the customer can go to another dealer.

LINE-X was the first to offer this type of warranty and other brands, such as Rhino, just copied it. Most brands don't even offer a nationwide warranty at all.

That just cinches it. First, what you said is not stated on their website (or it is well buried) and I have problems with deceptive advertising. Second, there is no way I should have to return to a dealer that was incompetent in the first place, especially in cases of gross incompetence, such as with this installation (no prep, too thin in some places and glopped on in others). Been there, done that, didn't even get the t-shirt, ain't gonna happen again. I'll get a drop in first; I've never had a problem with one.

I'm not following the deceptive part. What is deceptive to you?

Truckgasm, curious, does Line-x reimburse you if you have to perform warranty work on a truck you didn't do the original installation on?
