Bed Rug
Did it
I took the plunge and purchased a bed rug a couple of weeks ago. The install went pretty well, with only a couple of minor issues. Any ideas on these?
1) The rug keeps unzipping about 2-3" no matter what I do. It's not a huge deal, but the 3" hole is a dirt trap can't be good. I wish there was a way that I could secure the thing flush.
2) There is an air bulge toward the rear part of the bed just before the tailgate. I think this happened when I took off the tie-downs and screwed them on over the bedrug. There isn't an area where I can attach more velcro, so perhaps I should use something heavy to hold it down for a few weeks?
I love the product. I was worried about it always being wet, but it dries out in my garage overnight, even if there's a heavy rain storm. Concerns about debris making a mess of it have been addressed by me putting a tarp down over the rug when I occasionally haul yard waste and messy loads. Great product.

I managed to get the Bedrug installed today and it was fairly straight forward. I had some delay getting the bulkhead up since it seems you need at least 4 hands to get it the way you want it. Other than that the only snag I ran in to was having to go buy the right size torx bit to remove the tie downs since I had every size but the right one!!
I'm pleased with the look of it now that it's in and if it's a refurb f'ed if I can tell the difference from a new one. I may have a few adjustments to make to it to get a couple of spots flat but I'm going to let it sit in the sun a while and see how it lays down.
Thanks for all the input and install tips from everyone that posted.

Some of the people here seem to be worried about the bedrug holding up to being in a pickup. I have one in my 04. It's been there since I bought the truck.
Several times, I've loaded sand right on top of the rug. I got in and used a shovel to unload it. I was a little careful to not poke the shovel through the rug, but shovel it off I did! No damage! A hose removed what was left of the sand. I've loaded gravel and did the same shovel routine. In the fall, deer with bullet holes in them seem to find their way into the bed. Even after a week, the blood washes right out with a water hose. No smell, no stain. I've spilled gasoline on it. And, chain saw bar oil. A little soap, a little water and good as new. Once a year, I run the vacuum over it and it looks like new!
I really can't comment about fading as the truck is usually garaged and often has a tonneau cover so it's pretty well protected from the sun.
All in all, I'm really pleased with it. If I were to load sharp stuff, like scrap metal or a plow or the like, I'd be concerned, but other than that, it's one tough item. And that padded tailgate makes a super place to put my poor old sensitive butt!
