ARE Bed Cover Installed
ARE Bed Cover Installed
As I'm sure you Flareside owners know, not everyone makes covers for them. When I ordered one (through a local retailer) from ARE I was concerned how the sides would look as my Flareside had the exterior tie-downs. I was assured it would look good and the tie-downs would not interfere with the cover. As you can see from the pic, I've replaced the tie-downs with the aftermarket plates, which I will eventually paint to match the body color. The back of the cover doesn't quite cover the black factory tailgate trim. I don't know if I can adjust this or not. Haven't tried yet. Anyway, all things considered, I like it.

Looks good man, I also have a FS and trying to find a cover that I like has been a challenge. Did you look in to the ARE Lo Pro? Yours looks good and if they make the Lo Pro for the FS I am going to go for it. Nice tie down deletes, looks like some one elses I know
Because the local shop dealt with ARE and they've apparently misplaced the paperwork I don't know what model/version I have. There may not have been any choice as short bed Flaresides aren't all that common. As soon as I find out exactly what I have I will post the info.
Cover looks good. Those are made just about 20 miles from my house. I drive past their plant all the time. As a matter of fact I know the guy who most likely designed that top.--DIY

for tonneau covers, i have the extang soft cover on my fs fits great. looks pretty nice too. do you really think that having a cover on saves you gas? i often wonder about that. the whole wind resistance thing makes sense but does it save you enough to notice?

Beware - my ARE LSII is back at the factory. The paint began to flake underneath the lock. Take notice of yours. I only had it for 2 months before I noticed it. Seen another LSII cover with the same issue. I have to wait 3 weeks before I get it back. - Og
His is an LSII series cover, and you can adjust it to completely cover the caps all the way around including the tailgate (except of course for the tiedowns). It is the nature of fiberglass covers to need to flex to fit the truck once it is installed. You do this by setting the middle bumpstops then setting the rear bumpstops where the lid fits where it covers the caps and tailgate trim but not so far that it touches the paint when you press down on it. After doing this let it settle for a week or two to form to the truck and it will be fine.
ARE does make the LoPro for the FlareSide F150 as well as the LSX series. Either of these would give you a nicer better fit and finish than the LSII.
I am an ARE dealer and sell the LSX for $995.00 the LoPro for $949.00 and the LSII for $895.00.
As far as the paint peeling on the one mentioned above, I have had this happen only a few times and haven't had any paint issues on any this year, I sell an average of 4-6 tops and covers a week.

Definitely not giving the LSII a bad rap, just seems for the money, the paint job should be more professional. Love the cover. I believe it is best made cover for the F150. Just a little disappointed with the paint and the 3 week wait. - Og
DIYmechaninc, been there done that. I used to drive St Rt 250 right past that place every weekend or more. Lived in Mansfield and dated a girl from Gnadenhutten, god what a crappy town.
Anyways, just saying HI!
