Don't Do It!

Vortex Is The Worst Of The Worst, I Have A Line-x In My Truck And Love It! I Looked At Vortex And They Are One Of The Worst Bedliner Products Out There, You Would Do Just As Well To Buy The "diy" Spray On Stuff And Do It Yourself. Just Trying To Save You Some Wasted Cash And A Lotta Disappointment When You See It.

Bump......

so let's see the Vortex liner.

I'm in the market for a spray in and so far the Vortex has all the others available in the area beat on price. Lifetime warranty even on the colored ones.

Line-X fanatics... don't bother. It may be a good liner but there's not a dealer within an hour's drive of me.

The spray liners evidently aren't real popular in my neck of the woods. Of the 3 shops that spray the different brands, not a single one has had a vehicle on hand for me to actually take a look at.

The sample pieces all looked pretty similar.

Nobody huh?

I finally got to see a Vortex sprayed in a Colorado yesterday. I'm going to disagree with creed on the comparison between it and the "diy" stuff. It looked very professional and very much like the line-x pics I have seen posted here.

It's also a mix like the line-x and includes a nationwide lifetime warranty... even on the colors.

vortex is NOWAY compared to line-x. vortex looks like real real bad cottage cheese. You need to to see a line-x in person before you say that. Line-x is such a better product in everyway.

and you're basing that on what?

Back it up with something.

I looked at a Vortex with my own eyes and no....... it did not look like "real bad cottage cheese".

The texture on these things is more about the applicator than the actual product. I was born at night but it wasn't last night....

If it's made from the same material, how can line-x be "so much better in every way"? At least with the vortex they actually guarantee the colors.. which is something line-x does not.

I haven't made up my mind yet what I'm going to do, but I'm not buying into the "it's gotta be line-x or nothing" hype. Sounds like all the spray in liners fade so fast I'm considering going another route anyway.

Well, that's not exactly correct.

I'm a LINE-X dealer. I use Dupont Nason for my color matches. Nason is a urethane based automotive paint. I use the factory paint code and get an exact color match and they will NOT fade. I guarantee my customers. Also, our black liners can be treated so that they do not fade. The best product is LINE-X Xtra, which actually migrates into the bedliner. Xtra is made by Dupont only for LINE-X and is included in LINE-X nationwide lifetime warranty.

I think that Vortex adds a topcoat so that it does not fade, I'm not sure, call them and ask and let me know.

I've never seen Vortex, but typically, you can't get the nice LINE-X texture look without using a high pressure application. Vortex is not high pressure.

I looked a couple of Vortex websites. One thing I see that's interesting is that in the Vortex warranty, they warn you about a possible static charge buildup. LINE-X does not generate static electricity.

If you like Vortex, go for it. Let's see some pics!

backing it up

i went to both the vortex shop and line-x shop. there is no comparison on looks, strength, etc.... Like the linex dealer said linex is high pressure so you are going to get a better texture and also no dripping. Its all about personal opinion though. Take a look at both in a truck.
good luck

Try Platinum Porducts unless it is too late. Platinum has a topcoat and cleaner to make your bedliner look new!

I would chose Vortex over Rhino, at least up here in New England. The Vortex examples I have seen have been very nice unlike the soft lumpy Rhinos around here.

I asked about the topcoat, he said they have sprayed the topcoat but he didn't recommend it and also advised that he charge a premium for doing it. He said it made a real mess of his spray equipment and he really didn't like the finished product.. at least he was honest. He said they had an application (made by Vortex) that you brushed on every year to two years that would bring the liner back to "like new" condition. He advised using the topcoat only if you were having a multi-color liner with graphics done as a measure of "lift" protection for the graphics.

I guess the texture is relative to whoever is doing the application and the amount of time and experience involved. The liner I mentioned earlier having seen had a nice, fine texture to it. Even the line-x video I had seen dealing with application stated that the applicator was the one who dictated what the final finish would be like. High pressure misted on at 3' leaves a different texture than the same thing at 5'... be the same for a low pressure application I guess. From what I was told, that's where the Vortex gets it's name... from the specialized spray equipment. Since there are no line-x dealers around, I have nothing to do a side by side comparison with outside pics I find on the net, which you can tell nothing about.

I still haven't made up my mind.. I've got to do something one way or another. Friend of mine put a nice 3" long scratch in the bed yesterday for me...

Just wondering if you tried the Dealer Search function at www.goline-X.com?

I tried that.

As of 3 weeks ago the closest Line-X dealer to me was nearly an hour and a half drive.

At today's gas prices, that is a subtancial distance. Occasionally, I have customers travel from locations outside what I would call reasonable. I always offer them a discount. Call the LINE-X dealer and see what he will offer you.

The best LINE-X product is LINE-X with LINE-X Xtra.

OK, it's difficult to take a pic of a black object that sparkles in the sun. Here's LINE-X with LINE-X Xtra. The white spots are sun reflections. Keep in mind that this liner will always look this good, guaranteed.
