When getting line x sprayed...
I understand that you need to have the sprayer remove the bed bolts so you can access them if you need to. I also remember someone mentioning the tailgate, but I can't remember what the prep advice for it was.
Anyone have the skinny on the best way to have it done? I'm about ready to have it installed in my '05 F150.

We recommend that you have the bed bolts and the access panel screws on the tailgate removed before spraying. The main reason is for if you ever need any repairs done, the dealer can remove the bed and tailgate access panel without damaging your $400 liner. However, it's your option.
Of less importance is the look. I think the bed looks a whole lot better without the bolts sprayed.

One other thing to do:
Have your truck clean and waxed before they start. After they're done, check the entire vehicle very carefully for overspray. If there is any at all, make them get rid of every trace before you pay.
I had what seemed to be a perfect job done on my new screw, but when I washed it two or three days later I could feel a drag on the drying towel. There was a very fine deposit of particles that wasn't really visible, but was easily felt. It wouldn't come off without a lot of effort. It took the place that sprayed it about two hours and a large amount of methanol to remove the overspray. It took me a couple of hours after to get the final traces gone.

I had the bed bolts sprayed over on my truck because I did not like the look of the bolt heads not being sprayed. They did not spray the tailgate access screws. I figured if the bed was damaged enough to need removing, I would probably have to get the bed re-sprayed anyway.

When they did mine they said that they removed all the hardware i the bad before spraying and after they were done and I looked at it I noticed that they had removed the stuff from the tailgate as well as the tie downs but not the bed bolts. I was a little annoyed, just make sure to be very clear what is and isn't going to be done.

remove bolts for line-x spray
Our Line-x dealer always removes the bolts and hardware before spraying. It does look better, and it allows access for service. Why not ask your service department how often and why they need to lift the bed for service then make a decision. BTW, its available in colors incase you didn't know.
I'm going to be getting Line-x sprayed on this weekend. The dealers here want 400 out the door. To add color it's another 200 bucks. OUCH... Why is it so expensive to add color to it?

Well I got my Line-x sprayed on today. I'm 99.9% happy with the install. They removed all the bolts and even my motor cycle tie down bar I installed. None of the bolts got covered.

ya, that makes me mad too. i would just grind it off, and spray something else on it. how big was their "advertisment"? at a chevy dealer in town, they put their name on the gold emblem on the front of the truck. even though i never bought a truck from there, that makes me mad. if i ever boght a truck there, i would demand that they take it off
I was told that without the linex named sprayed in place they won't honor the warranty. I wasn't happy either. I walked in saw the sticker on my window and that.
I told them to take the sticker off and commented on the name sprayed in. It wasn't really obvious so I didn't argue about it.
One thing about grinding it off...I was told it is actually a plastic mold attached to the bed and then sprayed over.

You know, it's probably not worth having the thing removed. You may be more unhappy with the fix. Those things are a good idea, but I never liked the looks and we don't use them. I use just a chromed piece, like what auto dealers use. There doesn't have to be anything in the liner for them to honor the warranty, it does help though.
I did not want the BLACK color, so I chose the Gray, Only 25 Dollars more. It goes better with the white and gray paint job. I have noticed that my Line-X is a lot smother than other Line-X jobs. So your job may depend upon the different jobbers. My advice is to see what surface is applied to different trucks, prior to haveing yours done. Becuse when you have it done, there is no turning back.
