Just did mine today on my 4.6L 2000 FORD F-150.
Pretty tricky to sand the PVC pipe and get it exactly fit into the fender hole...
It went in but there was still some space around the pipe, minute spaces though.
Started the truck after reconnecting everything and it felt better.
Soon to be hitting the road and testing this mod out.
Thanks Guys!

Definately recommend this to people looking for buy an intake, but don't want to spend that much.
It gave me some torque I loss from the 3" Exhaust, and it gave me a better response. Way better than spending about $300 on a intake...
Took a while to get it sanded, but all in all it was well worth it. At about $15 bucks for the coupler it was way worth the additional air. Great mod

Just finished doing it...ended up with my own version as I knew I was able to make something work with what I have. I had a chunk of 4" ss tubing so I cut the air box so the 4" fit nice and tight, cut a 6" long piece of the 4" and put it in the stock airbox about 1/16th of an inch and JB welded it in. Then I just enlarged the hole in the inner fender. Its not reversable, but it was free! If I find the JB Weld doesn't hold it I'll bring the pipe up to by buddy's shop and put a couple of bead rolls on the end where it goes into the air box.

Here's what I ended up with:

Yes removing just 1 of 2 "choke points" will increase the friction losses in the system. In the mechanics of fluid flow, friction losses are directly proportional to the length of pipe. Also the more choke points will create more of a turbulent flow, which will tend to have higher friction losses as well.

More friction losses => lower flow rate

Does anyone have pictures of how they grinded the pvc piping? I tried for an hour or two and couldn't figure out how to do this. I'm probably just going to get some thin walled pipe and use that tomorrow.

How did you cut the hole in the fender bigger?? That looks sick I deffinatley want to do that when it warms up outside. I bet you noticed alot of improvement aswell.
