It's hard to feel gains from an intake mod. More cold air on demand is always good. I said "0" gains above. That doesn't mean you wont have them, you could.

These intake mods are great!

 

i took mine silencer out and i noticed a nice intake sound like a CAI and more pep and response

 

I cut my air box thinking it would help but after reading this I realize it's warmer air think I should fix it?

you can always get another filter cone cover end from a wrecking yard, it's what most of the V-6 do

 

i just installed this mod on my 99 f150 that has a 6inch lift on 35s, i definatly noticed a difference in the upper rpm's good job!

 

Heck yea, I also just put in this set up on my 99 f150 with 7.5" lift and 35's and I noticed a difference an hour later once I got on the interstate at some higher rpm's..plus, it looks cool, gives better, and projects are always fun!

I love this set up!

 

in case anyone was wondering this works just as well on the NBS 2 valve 4.6 trucks

 

maybe we should re-name this to the: DIY intake for 2 valve V-8 engines

 

If you want to get this done in 10min or less I'd suggest using 3" PVC sewer pipe. It's thin wall requires no grinding and slips easily into the fender hole!!!

how much gains are we seeing,
i would guess if it is noticeable it has to be nice little chunk,\
should even be helping torque out too

 

the one truck that was dynoed produced over 8rwhp and the K&N tested previously to that produced 10rwhp so I'd say on a cold engine in a cold shop or on the street probably 8-10rwhp

 

not bad for at most 20 bucks picking up the stuff to do it today

 

I did it on mine today, $12 in materials...pretty cheap.

wow did mine today and went for a ride and i was shocked, 40 mph then i floored it too simulate passing and she starts to send my rear towards the ditch.(road was wet) , dont try this when road is wet.
