hey guys just thought id add a lil info, i have 97 switched the whole over lay to white face blue numbers, i talked to raptor and he said to try green leds, i wanted white face overlay with green numbers, i bought the green leds and installed them and to my luck the numbers are green. the brightness of the leds over powered the tint. i just did the top 37's because im waiting on the others to arrive in the mail, and once i get those i will all green. and also im switching the directionals to green also to match.

sorry guys, I've been quite busy (finals, college prep, etc). i probably wont be going any stripping (pun intended) anytime soon, all I can suggest is just plain out swapping the LEDs and seeing the output. if you want some help with the actual process of removing the color, I can give you a step-by-step if you would like

I would like to see the step by step if that would be possible, I dont want to ruin my gauges, but I do have a spare cluster from a 94 that has the same green tint to practice on.

Also, I would like to add that my cluster(2000 f150) does not use any of the 194's. They are all the small 37/74's. Do the bulbs come out of the sockets? I tried to get one out to see, but it didn't really move. Also, you can get the instrument cluster bulbs(with the twist base) on that super bright website. The only thing that used the 194's was my hvac controls. And it didn't use a tint, rather a peice of see through green plastic(I'll get pictures).

The only other problems are my light switch, and cruise buttons. I am going to tear into those(even though they are sealed units) and perform the color change as well.

hm...its weird that Ford would change their deisgn so many times. Yes, the smaller ones come out. Mine was a PITA too. I eventually used a pair of pliars to hold the base and with dry hands kept pulling at the small bulbs.

Basically, when you pull the needles off, you remove the gauge, you will see a lot of white. I used a wire wheel on my drill and slowly applied firm pressure until the white came off. Then you will start to see the green. Thats when you stop and apply the acetone. Be advised, when you apply the acetone, it removed the stick gooey stuff that holds in onto the cluster, so go buy a spray can of 3M super 7 adhesive. I would recommend practicing on that '94s cluster first.

I tried using acetone on the white part, and it did eventually take it off(on the 94 cluster). Does it not wear down the black part of the cluster? It appeared to a slight bit, but the green does come off somewhat easy. Its just abit of a pain to get all of it.

I've ordered the bulbs, and when they get here I will pull the cluster back out to do everything.

I've got the light switch apart, and it appears to use a light, or led of this style.

It will require stripping the green off as well, and some soldering to put the new light back on. Once I figure out which bulb to order for that, I will tackle that part and post pictures. Good riddance to all that unsightly green.

hmmmm......ever since I got my f150 harley I would always look around at night and hate that garbage green all over the place.....I personally will just like them all white. I was super excited when i read the first post, but each post thereafter became discouraged because of the whole acetone thing. I have the beautiful factory harley cluster....silver carbon fiber weave with "supercahrged" under the RPMS....so should i risk this, because we all know how many junk yards have harley's in them

^^^ yeah I would not recommend doing this. just keep searching around and if you find another one, just do that one. it would suck having such a nice truck and having that ugly green overlay

Here are a few pictures of the screen you have to take out of the hvac controls. Its as simple as removing the unit from the truck, unclipping a bunch of clips around the unit, removing the ****, and removing said screen. Nothing to fancy. I wish the cluster was as easy as this.

ive got a few things to add also (will post pics when get chance)
ive got an 02 supercrew with the EATC and had a spare one. you can change the bulbs out but it has the same "green" tint and so does the screen cover.
im going to try to over power it with blue leds but i was wondering if there was any way to get rid of the green on the screen cover

oh and for some reason on the 4wd switch theres no green tint. i noticed that theres a little green cover on the stock bulb which produces the green color.
(mine burned out awhile ago and i lost the bulb & part (its a little bulb on a long pole that screws into the switch) but ive found another one and am going to put a blue led in it also see how it does and will post pics when finished

I have an 02 SuperCrew, if I put in blue led's how will it look with the green tint? Will the blue led's be enough to overpower the green tint? Hopefully someone has some pics of this. I would love to see it.

Thanks
