I believe so, but I'm not sure if it's a direct swap. Is your 2004 a new body style or heritage?

all the plugs to swap are there

but you have to get the dealer to swap clusters and reprogram the pats in the new cluster (im assuming that you have a 97-03)

Yes, I have an 04 heritage XL v6. Thought that if im going to get extra gauges to do the mod with I might as well upgrade to one with a tach...

PATS Key's started in 1999 so if you had a 1997 or 1998 no need to reprogram anything

Here's mine I did last night...thinking about trying incandescent blue bulbs to get rid of the hotspots. Turned out nice though overall I think.
WARNING: Do not put acetone on the gear shift selector piece; it just makes it a clear piece of plastic lol that's why you don't see that piece in my picture. I just painted it black for the time being until I can get another one to replace it :o

Well I went today and got the gear selector piece out of a '98 expedition...the people at the junk yard just gave me that piece. Since it was a '98 it had the blue tint on the back, so it turned out better anyway. I also had some vinyl overlays sitting in my room so I decided to try those out; glad I did, they turned out great! Especially for only $20 on fleabay.

okay decided to see if id be able to do this today, so i started on the a/c control panel.

opened it up and the "green film" basically fell out

i put these cheezy "color changing" LEDs in from a local auto store for now, just to get an idea of how it looks before i order the rest of the LEDs. cant wait to see how it looks at night.

this has probably already been addressed but what are yall doing about the knobs, they have that little cube of green plastic on the back

I have the same question about the knob...and I've tried the LEDs in the hvac panel and it lit up just where the bulbs were and I couldn't even hardly see the rest of the lit up parts.

You could try and find a wrecked 97-98 and get the knobs or convice a friend who likes the green to switch with you. Mine don't have the green and the glow pretty good

do the knobs on the AC pop right off? how does the A/c controls come apart? pop or screw?

thejake1989 08-11-2009 11:18 PM

I think they just pop on

01f1502wd 08-12-2009 12:40 AM

ok thanks. maybe blackout can get a how-to on how to take it apart. Id like to know before I do it so I dont tear it up like i did my first light switch.

thejake1989 08-12-2009 12:46 AM

i think i have an extra one in the garage from a truck i stripped. ill take a look at it tomorrow so neither of yall have to worry about messing yours up.

01f1502wd 08-12-2009 12:52 AM

sounds good, thanks. I think ill change the color of my light switch and just hot glue it or something back together and get a autometer speedo dash and double DIN radio and LEDs in the A/C controls and be set..see if you can get pics of it too please :)
