Ok I followed these directions and bought the leds from the supplied link. I have a 97 and it turned out good but the guage cluster has hot spots from the 37 bulbs, I may just leave it I'm not sure but just thought I'd share.

didnt need to remove the top piece btw.. that entire step could be skipped

makes it easier yes, but not needed

Started this process on my 02, waiting on bulbs but i thought i would pull it apart anywho and have a look. Its a little different, green tint, and different circuit layout.

Hey street legal not, what color of led's are you going to be using? Take some pics when you are done. I really would like to see this done on an 02. I want to do this on my truck, I would like to have blue lights for the dash. Thanks.

streetlegal_not 05-27-2009 10:35 PM

I also want blue, i will take pictures when i am finished for sure, I'm going to try just replacing the bulbs first to see what the outcome is like and if its not what I'm looking for ill have to acetone the gauge. Couple questions I have though are about the bulbs. Is T10 the socket type and 194 the bulb? all the 194 bulbs I have looked at are waaay to big. Where has everyone been buying theirs other than ebay? I have found lots of sites that sell 194 bulbs, but none seem to state whether or not its T10. Here is what they look like...

T10 194?

i have an 02 ex cab and the tint behind mine if for sure green. i have tried this and it did not help. My guages and ac controlls are different. any idea where to get blue tint instead of green?

nice write up. i did this to my 97 when I had it in 2003. Was pretty surprised by the turnout but the led's burned out quick.

thejake1989 06-03-2009 09:43 AM

Just finished doing this last night and it looks great. im currently working on making the headlight switch glow blue also but it seems like im going to have to experiment and fab it up myself from the stock bulb and a blue led. i already peeled off the blue film from the bulb so its now a yellowish light bulb color but only temporary. ill post pics when its done

alan02f150 06-04-2009 10:03 PM

quick question, i have a 02 and was wondering to do this i would need to scrape off the green film and then put blue leds in it or what?

jberg 06-08-2009 07:34 PM

hey guys i just bought the blue LED's and was wondering if anyone could a) give me a walk through about acetone because i have never done anything like that before and do not want to mess anyting up and b) post a pic of a
99+ with the blue LED's
p.s. i have a 99 ex cab lariat
thanks

Any answers to this? I'm having the same problem. Tachometer and speedometer move, but that's it, and there not even close to being right.
Any particular way to set this?
