Cool Quite simple

Hello there,
I have been thinking about doing this mod on my 5.4L 2001 for awhile now. Well I did it this week and it only took about 15 minutes. The hard part was shaping the 3" piece of PVC to fit in the fender opening. I used a wire wheel on a bench grinder. I disconnected the battery after to reset the ECM, I dont know if this is needed or not. I have not noticed any real gains in power or fuel mileage but it can't hurt to have more air coming in.

Thanks for the info

Did you unplug one of the sensor cords from the filter box or extendable chamber and forget to plug it back in??

Nope didn't touch any of that. Just pulled the filter out and that bucket and the inlet and added the new one. Didn't unplug the battery until after I did it and started it up, but did it right after andstill hasn't changed.

there is suppose to be a cord plugged into the bottom of the air box. Might wana check again.

If you took it out then you had to have disconnected it and it might have fell down to where u cant see it.

Add me to the Gotts modder list Even though I read, printed and read again... when I went to get the pipe and coupler I was hesitant of the size. But I had faith in what I read and so it is done ( with the wife manning the Dremel). I have been wanting to do this since I read about it almost a year ago. Now my exhaust needs replaced and the computer to go through the reset to feel the difference

Did my GOTTS mod today, too.

Spent $13 at home depot for 3"sch40 PVC pipe and the rubber coupling, then went to town.
Grabbed my porter cable random orbit sander (60 grit), came out nice.
Only needed hex nut driver for clamps and 8mm socket for the battery.
THANKS for the great idea.
Thinking about the silencer, removing that 2nd small port has to help, I can't see how it could help by being there (hoping to find a separate housing)

Add me to the list, been reading a while, finally pulled the trigger this evening. Took the truck for a spin when I was finished, did notice a little bit extra top end. Will most likely remove the silencer the next evening I have to myself!
