Just did this mod and I can barely notice a little bit of pickup at the top end. Its nice though.

Did this to my truck this morning along with cleaning the MAF(probably the first time its ever been done). I have a 5" lift with 35s with 3.55 gears, and there is a noticeable difference in the upper end on the highway(wich was NEEDED). The pipe i got was a scrap peice from a job and i get a discount at a supply house so all in all it cost me $3.77. Well worth the money.

So is the 3" thin wall pvc ok to use even though it doesn't fit snug in the fender hole? I started doing this last night but was unsure since it wasn't a tight fit.

Also, those of you that did removed the silencer, did you cut it out or pull it out?

When I did mine, I looked for the silencer and didn't see anything as described. Thought it was odd since the truck was nearly stock

I'm pretty sure I have the silence b/c when I stick my hand into where it should be the opening gets smaller the farther back I go. I'm wondering if I need to cut it out or if it can be pulled out with or without the flexible connector still attached.

Well the wife had some friends over and I didn't want to sit around with them so I decided to give the silencer and Gott's another try.
Silencer first: I started by trying to use my wimpy 7.2V cordless dremel to cut out the silencer with the flex connector still attached. That wasn't working cuz my dremel is a POS. So I took a pair of needle nose pliers and found an edge of the silencer to grab onto and started twisting it all the way around on both ends to break the bond. In some places it broke but whatever. Then I grabbed onto to it from the big end and started yanking til it came out.

Then I did the Gott's mod with 3" thin wall pvc in the dark with a flashlight.

Then I took the beast for a test drive. I think I noticed a little more roar than before. I have an Amco 40 (flowmaster knock-off) dumped behind the cab. It already had some growl, but does sound better and the truck has a little more pep.

and I did the gott mods... I haven't test it until tomorrow... I will let you know the results. By the way it cost me around $10 bucks and when I was there I also cleaned the MAF

Well i did notice a better response when I hit the pedal

, let's wait to see how the MPG is affected...

Anyone that removed the silencer, what kinda noise do you hear if any? like a slight whistle sound??
