Talking New Hood Delivered!

new hood delivered to my paint place, and i went to check it out.

well, my paint place said it's one of the better hoods they make, but its still not ready for paint. it needs to be sanded and smoothed in a couple of places, but he had horror stories of really really bad after market hoods. should be finished by tomorrow, but i don't have time to get it till tuesday (my birthday!) I'll post some pics, all my current ones are old. next Im trying to get a powdercoated billet grill, but I dunno where to get one. any help on that? lastly, the hood, its an american auto designs cobra hood, which is the coolest design I saw, but I didn't know it was nonfunctional. when I get some more money I'll have someone cut out the back parts and put in a grill to keep road trash/birds out of there, and it'll help out my af1. ill post pics tuesday of it installed.

the website should be www.americanautodesigns.com lets see, they used the hood in a truckin where they customed an f150 and it looked really good, and i liked it since then. theyre at the end of every truckin, don't know where else. pricey though, 600 for the hood, 80 for shipping, plus about 400 for paint + labor (needed some sanding, some more priming, all that paint, plus install) and i get it all tomorrow! finally! plus i got mine without wiper holes (i never use it anyways, and should look better) so i'm cool. and i emailed them alot before i bought it, and they got back to me, and helped me out. personally, i like the design better than any other i had seen, theres not too many though. i thought the cervinis didn't look "tough" enough i guess, and the part between the scoops looked too small. but theres is functional! and for the last bit of rambling, i plan on making it functional in a month or so, should just just be some cutting and priming, they can get to it pretty easy from the back too. hopefully itll be cheap. ill post pics tomorrow if its a nice day.

Talking HOOD PICS!

3rd time im trying this, f150online keeps getting busy and won't go anywhere. ok, lets see. Picked up hoop, is installed, painted, and all is good. Sadly, making it functional will be about 600 bucks because they have to cut through two layers of fiberglass and weld up the middle to keep moisture from coming through. the hood definatley feels stronger than the steel one, more solid. and the best part is it looks amazing, i really love the look. its alot curvier, and it matches the form of the stepsides. and when i saw my old hood and the new hood next to eachother is was no contest. the weekend before i claybared the entire car and put on two layers of wax, so my old hood had some shine to it. but the new hood looked amazing. curves make it all look better, i love it. heres some pics, i have some more in my gallery though.

i don't think the pics get the hood too well, i will take more this weekend

Hey spork looks great...

I was wondering did they have to blend the paint to the fenders or did they just shoot the hood, and how does it look up close? I also have a black truck and I'm looking to have my fiberglass hood painted but I wasn't sure if they would have to blend or not...

no, no blending. they just painted the hood the code color, and looks just like the rest, cept it has no paint defects.

that still looks good, even if it does not give it justice. maybe you could do a different type of ram air, like the L guys do. it would be alot cheaper than 600.
