Window Tint Suggestions

Hey y'all looking to get windows tinted soon. As of right now, I'm thinking of tinting my front windows, but I'm not sure what % would be best for me. I definitely want it dark enough to help with keeping the cabin cool, but I also wanna be able to park/reverse at night without having much trouble seeing out the windows.

So should I only tint the front windows (or all?) and if so to what %?

What are the best quality tint film brands to look for?

What would you guess my total cost would be to have it done at a shop?

Does anyone know of a reputable auto tint business in Fort Worth?

Thanks for all the help!

I have 35% on my front two windows and 5% on all the rear windows. No problem seeing at night with that, but still dark enough during the day. The legal limit for front windows in Texas is now 25%, so I've been contemplating getting mine redone, but I can't justify the cost right now for 10 more percent.

Don't get fooled by all the different "quality" tints. They're all pretty much the same and the only difference you might possibly notice is a slightly different shade.

I had my 5 windows done for $160 at my home. I've read where lots of guys got theirs done for ~$120, so I wouldn't pay more than the $160 mark.

Tint all the windows so it'll all match. If you're too worried about not being able to see at night, just get them all done 35% or maybe the front 35% and the rear 20%. But again, I don't have an issue with my 5% rear tints at all.

Not sure of a shop around you since I'm in Houston, not Fort Worth. Call around and ask for prices.

I had 30% done all around on my truck. So the front two windows are 30%, and the back windows are 30% plus the factory tinting. I wish the fronts were darker, but I wanted to stay legal when I did it. Llumar ATR series.

I had it done at Artech on Hulen in Fort Worth. I've also had 3 other vehicles done there with great results. He has some bad reviews online, but you all know how online reviews can be. Not many people will go out of their way write a review for a good tint job, but a bad one will be very common. The total for all the windows was about $200.

About a month ago I took the Acadia to get the front two windows done at Ray's Tint Shop. I thought I would try him out since the GMC dealership uses and recommends him. He is located off of Southwest Loop 820, and does his work out of what looks like a storage building. The results were good though. I did 25% on both the front windows and it matched the factory tinting great, and it's still legal. I believe it was $60.

Both guys said their tinting come with a lifetime warranty.

ive ran 5% all around and it kept it totally cool, but driving at night sucked, especially backing up. on my 04 it had factory tint on the rear and i had 15% put on the front to match. i wouldnt run more than 10%. I paid 60 up here in wa to have the fronts done, and 200 to have my last rig all done and that was pretty cheap as far as pricing here.

I'd just look at the different %'s and see what works best for you. On my Blazer I have 20% wrapped all around, and on my truck I have 10% wrapped all the way around. Brand wise, I recommend 3M tint. That stuff will outlast your truck. My blazer can pretty much attest to that now.

If you want 3M, you will probably have to drive to Dallas. I don't remember there being any shops using 3M in Fort Worth.

Yeah, sorry. No help on which shop to go to. I've only lived in Texas for about 5 months in my life, and that was on 2 different bases, neither of which I had either of my trucks with me. Sorry. Lol

Things to consider
1= Film effect the temperature in the care and the Quality of passenger vision
2= pick the right tint style make big deferent form example
>>>>>>>there gloss and solid black tint
*gloss looks shiny but effect looks Higher % than what you put on window in daylight

*Matt in night looks higher %
3=high quality is most for example i got 50% from insides looks 30% but from outside looks 50%

4= font and back window should be less % than side *do not think to put high % in rear window Specially if you got 2 doors cause high % you will see the reflections of dashboards in the window

Ray's Tint (Fort Worth) is where we send all of our business. They also install tint for many auto dealerships. They use Aegis and comes with a lifetime warranty.

3M color stable tint is the best I have worked with. It is truly black, and clear clarity. It costs though, but as someone already mentioned, it will outlast the truck. I tinted my trucks front doors 4 times till I found the right tint. Llumar would be my 2nd place choice, their films are thicker and easier to work with, but are still a charcoal base color, and their ATR metalized film reflects too brightly and does not appear black.

Here is my 3M 5% tint,

3M color stable in 20% is what you want for nighttime visibility, and daytime black out like the privacy rear glass.

I just did the fronts to match the factory 20% in the rear. Only cost me $50. If you needed to do all your windows the shop would have charge $200 FYI.

3M Color stable 20% vs Formula One 15%

Hey DarrenWS6, you say 3M CS was the best you've worked with. Have you worked with Formula One Pinnacle? I was all set to do my 2010 F-150 crew cab with 3m 20% but Formula One has a 15% that seems very compelling. I want to match the rear factory tint but would rather error on darker rather than lighter so the 15% seemed better to me. Your 20% looks super dark, but my lighter interior may hurt my look. Thoughts?

Darren's tint is 5%, not 20%, so that's why it seems dark. I'm sure you can get 3M in 15% as well. Brand really has nothing to do with %, they all make all different % tints

i have 20% on my fronts and they seem to have faded a tad since they were put on 2 years ago. I might do 15% if i move into a new truck next year.
