Shouldn't the basic valance fit a FX2?

I ordered a basic black textured valance for my FX2, and had it painted; just to find out when i tried to put it on that it was too short. The edges aren't flush with the bumper. The driver side is about 3/4" short, and the passenger side is about 1" too short. I put the first driver side screw in, and when I went to put in the passenger side (just to hold it up), the hole on the valance and the bumper were about 1/2" apart, that's when I noticed how short the valance was. Does the FX2 have a special bumper that I don't know about? And the FX2 valance is the only valance that will fit? I'm going crazy trying to figure this out, and I'm going to get screwed out of my money!!!

Are you sure you didn't get a 04/05 valance? Those are a bit smaller. 06/08 has more lip and goes back further, as far as width they should be the same but I do not know.

Well the ebay description said 06 07 08 XLT Valance, and the 04 05 valance has those scoops where the tow hooks would be, this one is smooth. I went back out there and messed with it. I can get it to where the holes match up, but both sides are still about 1/2" from the edge of the bumper. I guess I'll just have to keep it like that, as not to lose my $150 investment. It does look really good painted too. But I'll post some pics tomorrow so y'all can see what I'm talking about.

'06/'08 have tow hook trucks too, are you sure you got an OEM valance? $150? I bought a new valance from my Ford dealer 3yrs ago for $52 + tax.

I just mean I got the one w/o tow hooks, and the $150 includes product, shipping, and painting. But I got it on and it looks pretty good IMO.

Yeah after looking at other trucks with this valance, it looks like they're all a hair shorter than the bumper. But yeah I love it! Now I need to sell the sport valance.

Looking to get $60 for the sport valance. It has a couple of scrapes on the bottom, but the top (the part you see when it's installed) is in good condition. Also, the first 2 clip holes on the driver side cracked open, but I just tightened the screw really tight, and it held up just fine for the past several months. You could even get a couple of washers to squeeze into the metal clip to hold it even firmer, but there was no need for me.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I am curious on what the appeal to doing this?

As an XL owner whose truck came with that, I've been itching to get something different since day one. Just whiten the last few months I got a 3Dcarbon valence to replace that one...

Is it a ground clearance issue? I'm doubting that seeing as kchyde is rocking the 22's...

Just curious.

But confusion aside it looks MUCH better PTM than the factory textured black. If I was still rocking it, I'd seriously consider going PTM.
