if anybody on here has ordered from retro-solutions and reading this, let me know how your experience went and the quality of there kits. i'm considering buying there economy kit (6k) it says there digital and its only 45 a kit. they appear to have there sh*t together with these kits. do not buy from hidextra.com as they cannot seem to get their orders right and they sell poor ballasts.

now i know you get what you pay for and 45 a kit is pretty cheap but its going in a mustang that only goes to shows now so i just want something a little better than filament bulbs that will look clean. all you get is 6k or 8k and i want the 6k ones.

anyways, let me hear about your experience about anything you've ordered through them.

I have had great experience with retro-solutions. I bought my retrofit kit through them and it is a great kit. Lifetime warranty also. Another thing is the customer service is excellent. Todd always replies to my emails quickly and gives me all the information I need. Actually, I sent him an email yesterday, Sunday, asking about what bulbs I would have to buy if I wanted to swap the ones out in my retrofits and he replied in just a few hours. I wasn't even expecting him to get the email until at least today. You should have no problem buying the kit you want. It is their cheaper line but I'm sure it will be better than a DDM kit and you know the customer service and shipping will be 10X better also. I was going to order an economy kit for my fogs but there isn't an H10 kit. I'll have to email him again.

Edit: I just looked at the economy kits and their warranty is 1 year. The Nightvision kits, which are what I have in my retrofits, are lifetime warranty for another $30. Just FYI

 

I had a DDM kit first that i never got to work right, sent it back and ordered a Retro-Solutions kit and have been pleased.I had one issue early on, Tood replied back within a few hours, and i swapped out a fuse, worked great ever since. I have had them for about 5 months so far.

 

heck yea, i'll be calling hidextra.com as soon as they open demanding a refund and once i get i'll order from retro. i might go ahead and order some for f150 as well. but i'll probably wait and see how they perform in the stang first. who knows. lol i believe im through with the different colored headlight phase and im going to kit 6ks or below from here on out. i think white would make a black truck look clean. i might order some retro fits one day if he can make them look attractive. does he sell it so all i have to do is install the assembly and mount the ballast? i dont want to do it myself, LAZY! lol

 

See if he has 9145. Most people don't know they're the same bulb

The only difference between a halogen 9145 and a halogen 9005 (apart from the slight difference in the PY20d and P20d base) is the wattage draw and wattage output.

9145= 45W
9005= 65W

If you get an HID kit, its going to have the same draw (35W) and the same output (35W) so the only difference between a HID 9145 and HID 9005 is the different bases, so you're only making it harder on yourself. Order 9145s.

 

i've read somewhere that 9005 kits will melt the round fogs because they burn hotter? oh well

 

When you are talking about the halogens, yes they will melt the round fogs (unless you have chrome and quartz foglights like me) but HIDs all put out the same output. The only difference is the mounting style.

 

I have Retro Solutions 55w 8000k Bixenon kit. 0 Issues coming on a year.

 

Are you asking if the retrofits are this way? If so, yes and no. Yes you install the assembly but you have to bake open the headlight to do so. Retro's kits mount in the factory headlight socket hole so there isn't a lot of cutting to do but opening the lights is unavoidable. Mounting the ballasts is the easiest part. lol

Well then that's a given. All plug and play HID kits are the same, plug and play. No work involved.

 

No guys, I meant coulda I send retro solutions some stock headlights and have them mount the the retrofits for me and send them back ready to install. And yes I understand hid kits are plug and play and yes I know how easy mounting the ballast are

 

I don't think Retro does retrofits. You would have to contact somebody like Brian at sickhids.com if that's what you want to do.
