painted/black out bumpers & emblems
used Dupont 99k with matte 20-30% matte clear on bumper. Used wheel coating on emblems and put black Ford decal on tailgate oval. Next is to paint lower two tone to match bumpers and black 4x4 decal

Looks like a good job with the paint. I would have just painted them to match the bottom paint. But I guess painting the two tone to match the bumpers works just as well. Can't wait to see it finished

Sandblasting would probably be the best. You just can't have any shine on the chrome because nothing would stick to it. I D/A with 80 grit then with light 180 grit, sprayed self-etching primer, then sprayed regular primer/surfacer, sanded down with 400 and 600, then base coat and matte clear. It's been about a month and a half nothing peeling. I'll let you know how it holds up
I've been debating on painting my emblems on my '07 ever since I got my truck. I'm just afraid black emblems on a black truck wouldn't look right. But I hate the chrome that they are now. What do you guys think??
Oh, and nice job OP!!!

Those look awesome man!! You have made my decision easy. Did you use Krylon fusion? And what method did you use, like sand and straight paint or did you get more involved with primer etc.? Thanks for the pic.
I did use Krylon fusion. The only thing I did to prep it was scuffed it up real good with a scuff pad, then I sanded it with 120 grit, then I sanded with 600. After that I cleaned it up thoroughly with alcohol. Then I used a chrome adhesive to help my paint stick to it. Looks really good. I used the same stuff on my mirrors, but they get hit by wind and bugs and the paint is starting to chip. I'm going to take them to my dad's house and paint them right in the garage with a paint gun.
