Running Boards or Nerf Bars?

This is really stupid but I'm having trouble figuring out what to go with...

I would like to add a running board/nerf bar to my truck. I really like the rapter boards but I wont part with that much $. I also kinda like the
2011 FX4 boards and they are only a $450 option so I figure they can't be too expensive to order right?

Than again what about a nerf bar?

What do you guys think? My truck below, no major changes, LineX bedliner, rubber bed mat, truxedo cover, Ford mud flaps and tow mirrors.

Great looking truck ! I have had trucks with both running boards and nerfs, but prefer the nerfs as they are much cleaner looking and very functional on getting into the truck.

Thanks

I thought that the running boards may offer something in the way of protection for the bootom of the doors.

I have DeeZee FX black running boards on my FX4. Others comment that it looks better with these on. It also protects the sides of the truck from doors (in most cases) and stones etc. Check out my garage for pix's.

Hard to see a good shot of those on your truck.

I'd really like a closer look at the 2011 FX$ boards before buying, anyone have pics of those?

Some Nfab nerf bars would look great on your truck....about the same price range as well.

I have no idea of what the 2011 Running boards cost but they are going to be extremely expensive.

My drivers side step bar on my 08 was bent up a little bit on the day I got it. Never really bothered me until recently. I went to my local dealer and asked them how much it would cost for just the tube and they quoted me 600 bucks for 1 side. For that price I could buy 2 full sets of after market bars and still save a bit of cash.

If you really want OEM you are going to pay dearly for it if you buy form a dealer.

Nfabs look clean but the stepping area is tiny and you easily scrape your leg if you're not paying attention.

Those Smittybilts look pretty decent though and probably protect the doors some.

I went with AMP powersteps on my old truck but they're out of your budget.

Those look decent, but they are hard to see in your album. Do you have a side shot of your truck with them on it?

I was a bit concerned about the step area on nfabs, same issue with Smittybuilt. The powersteps are cool but not to my taste. If I were willing to spend a grand on steps I'd prefer raptor steps
