Ford bugshield

Anyone running one, and have pics? How easy was the install, and is it worth the money or is everyone using another brand?

What year truck do you have? I have the factory Ford bugshield and its held up fine but its really dull looking, its supposed to be smoked. I have to keep applying PlastX and wax to it to keep it shiney.

The Ford low profile is fairly easy to install on the 04-08. Takes all of about 15 mins. Remove 4 bolts and loosen 6 others so that the grille is away from the hood. Slide the bugshield between hood and grille and retighten and replace. Then just add the wing supports over the plastic hood protector and screw the bugshield to them. It does come with directions that states remove the grille, but all you really need to do is loosen it. It also states to add the wing supports first, but I found it easier to line them up with the holes if the shield was already in place. I had them on my 04 and my 07. Did the 07 the way I mentioned above and it was much quicker than following the directions like I did on my 04.

As far as worth the money, in my opinion yes. Seems look better and fit better than aftermarket. it also has the F150 logo.

Take a look in my gallery, and you can see pics of my 04 and 07 with it on.

I have a Ford bug shield. It has been on my truck for the last two years. It has protected my truck not only from the copious amount of insects that abound in the spring and early summer in the Oregon Cascades but has served quite well as a barrier to the rocks and gravel that may come my way. Here are a few pictures...

I would install one of these again without question...

Sorry, I just went by your profile. As far as on the 09 up, I had thought about getting one for mine, but I have yet to see one that I like the way they fit on those. Not as straightforward as 04-08. I think the way the have to sit looks kind of clunky.

I had the dealer install this one when I bought the truck. They did not adequately tighten the screws and several screws fell out. I reinstalled the shield using small stainless nuts and bolts and added some other washers where the shield mounts to the truck itself.

Bottom line, the installation is pretty easy and strait forward. You would not have any problems installing one on your truck. I am sure the full length shield would have a similar installation process.I might recommend that you use some Loctite on the screws that mount the shield to the brackets.

I really like the Weathertech no-drill, digital fit on my 09.
