Painting flares

My flares are getting pretty faded along with the bed rail plastic.

what do you reccomend I paint it with for a long last scratch free paint?

If its plastic paint it with Krylon Fusion Satin paint. Stuff works great and makes it look brand new.

Bed rails have a bunch of clips that snap into the top of the bed to hold them in place....they should just snap off if you start at one side and work slowly to the other.

I also recommend Krylon Fusion. Mine are painted as is my cowl, wipers, step bars, grill, door handles, mirror caps, badges...

pretty much almost 1/4 of my truck is rattle canned now

LOL nice! Im about to wash the truck and take off the flares and paint.

As for the bed rails im tapping those off because im not messing with poping them off because my plastic bed liner (it came with the truck, ill get Line X done soon) Is in the way of the underside of the rails

Well the bed rails come off in about 30 seconds lol. they are real easy to pop off just pinch the clips that go through the bed side.

Fender flares are harder to get off then those.

Also the Fusion didnt work for me. The satin black didnt stick worth a crap and didnt lay down even it was spotty looking even after even coats.

I ended up buying some good ol trusty rustoleum. Ive used rustoleum on everything. I ended up getting the fine textured black and it looks real good with that slight texture. I havent put it on the truck yet they're sitting in the sun in my front yard drying. Ill post pics once theyre done

I didn't think the rustoleum would stick to that. ---Has anyone else had trouble with the Krylon Fusion, thats the first time I've heard of it not working good.

I would have took pics of the bed rails when they where off if you would have posted it a bit earlier.

But yea it sticks great. I love the textured because it seems to dry harder than fusion too. You can scratch your finger nail across it and it wouldnt leave a dent in it.

I used a mist of plastic primer on it for the first coat then scuffed it up real good with a gray scotch brite and then misted one coat of rustoleum over that and then put two regular coats on, then put them in the front yard to dry for a few hours and stuck em on. They look great ill get pics in a second

I tried to get a good view of it but these are the best I can do. I can fix cars but I cant take a picture to save my life so bare with me haha.

And yea my truck is never really "clean" I live on a gravel seasonal road.

Im really happy about how tough this paint seems to have dried on there. Its much harder drying than any krylon ive sprayed on my truck or mustang
