Spray can. This stuff right here. Says for outdoor metal surfaces but with proper prep and scuffing of a good under base of a primer made for plastic. http://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-722.../dp/B000QD7J7I

As for the headlights I painted them also.

Warm your oven to 250. Once pre heated throw in a piece of cardboard and the set the light in there for 10 minutes and start working a screw driver all around it to break the factory silicone seal. Once it cools down repeat the heating process to soften it up again. Then keep working it. Its a huge pain in the *** to separate it but once you get one edge up it comes apart pretty easy. Then take a T10 torx and take off the chrome ring by two screws. Tape off the turn signal chrome and then scuff the chrome real good. Spray a coat of primer on that and then scuff the primer good. Then spray on some semi flat krylon and let dry.

screw back together and then get a good water proof silicone and put a nice bead on the groove the lens sits in. Hold it together with some clams like the picture of mine below or wrap it real good with some duck tape. Let dry (to however long the directions on your tube say) or let sit over night to be safe like I did.

Im really happy the way mine turned out. And it makes the red FX4 that otherwise has NO chrome on it (except the headlights) look a ton better.

Just did my fender flares on my 05 FX4, and used krylon. I used it a couple of years ago on my windshield cowl & it still looks good. The trick I used was to spray it down with simple green, scrub it with a stiff nylon bristle brush, rinse it off, and paint once the flare/cowl/what have you is COMPLETELY dry. I go about 10 minutes between coats, and then let it dry for an hour in the sun before I handle it. I'll post up some before & after pics when I get a chance.

As to the OP, if you're wondering how to get the flares off; it's fairly easy; the front flares have 2 10mm nuts at the forwardmost edge of the flares, and you can get replacement body rivets at autozone for about $6 for a pack of 30.

Mine didnt have bolts on them. Flares came off real easy and the bed rails came off even easier.
