HELP! Center Dash Lighting Color Change

I really want to change the center dash background lighting from green to red. Unfortunately, I took it all apart, only to find that the green lights are tiny square LED's that are soldered into a circuit card behind the heat/ac switches. I wouldn't have any problems replacing them, except I have no idea where to find red ones. I have no specifics on them except that they're small, square , and green. Has anyone done a color change? Is there an easier way?

Also, if anyone finds red gauge faces that say FX2 or Sport, let me know. Everything I find says FX4 or Lariat. Thanks!!!!!

superbrightleds.com would probably have something you could use if you wanted to replace the stock LEDs.

Everything you need to know is in the above the thread. I did a full conversion to blue. Best place to get the SMD LED's are ebay from a seller called http://myworld.ebay.com/niktr0nix

Wow X, thanks a LOT! That's a ton of info! I ran a search for this topic here earlier, but i guess I missed it. My parts are now on order, and in a few short days I'll be a soldering fool! (as apposed to just a regular fool.. ) I'll be doing mine in red.

Also, looks like FoMoCo laid the smack down again. This time on Recon for making the illuminated F-150 fender emblems. The only place I could find them was carid.com, but after I ordered them they told me they were discontinued. If anyone knows where I can find them in black chrome with red letters please let me know.

i was gonna order some of those plccII or whatever size leds for my ac/heat since it was the last part of the truck still in fomoco green. But i have had a bad experience with the different LED sizes not matching color and im OCD like a fool when it comes to stuff like that.
I actually tore it apart yesterday and simply filed down the 5mm blue LEDs i already have a stockpile of and they worked like a charm.
The only ones that have to be filed way down are the ones for the fan speed **** due to the placement of the acrylic diffuser. The rest were simply pushed in just a bit to clear and they all worked great. Oh and I filed the ones for the buttons, real easy to do i simply filed them flat and they slip right in the button housing. Im finally done with all that green lit junk lol.

Im full LED lit now, the only incandescent bulbs are the front turn signals due to the LED towers looking hideous in our headlight housings.
Oh and the small bulbs on the green turn signal indicators to match the headlights.

Fab, did you have to put resistors in line with those? I have a whole load of prewired red leds coming in for another project, but those are listed as 12V. I wonder if I can just take out the resistor that's prewired in?

No i did not. The circuits are all ready to go on the board, i simply unsolder the existing LED and solder in a new one. Blue and green are very similar in regards to voltage needs so the factory circuits do just fine running them.

Thats how i did all my lights, just ran new LEDs in the originals place and left all my stock circuits. This way is a little neater, cleaner, and quicker. Its a little easier than the thread that was linked mentioned. In that thread it sys to completely take everything off the boards and run your own.

In regards to your prewired LEDs, sure just take the resistor out that is presoldered and run the LED alone in the place of the factory one.

this could sound dumb but ive changed the color of LED's by simply coloring them over with a red Sharpie. But this wouldnt work if the bulb is already green it woud have to be clear

Resurrecting this old thread, it seems nicktronix (source on ebay for the surface mount led's), is no longer around.

I cant find the SMD's for the ac climate control board anywhere!

Anyone care to share their sources?

Thanks!
