Bed liner on frame?

First off I live in Canada so we get pelted with salt on our trucks and because of that our frames get rusty. I was wondering if anyone has used spray on or DIY bedliner on their frames as protection? I get it oil sprayed every year but your still going to get rust (its more for the body panels IMO). I was planning on taking a stripping wheel to the frame to get it to bare metal and then coat the frame (as best I can) in bed liner to make it look better and protect the frame. Has anyone done this and if so I would like to see pics. I was also thinking that rubberized bumper spray stuff too but I think the roll on bedliner stuff would be a better more durable choice.

Oiling the frame actually saves it if it's done right. I don't have any rust on my frame.

As far as bedliner/rubberized coating I've always been kind of leery on. If it cracks it'll hold water which would take you right back to square one.

Ive done it on my truck and its seeming to hold up pretty good to the harsh alberta winters. Check the link in my sig to get to the pics. If you have any more questions just ask.

what brand roll on liner did you use? and did you just grind down to bare metal and then apply?

It comes in a 4 liter can too. The rattle can is good for the hard to reach areas. It said to apply it right over the rust but it has to be clean. I roughed it up just a little bit to get the loose stuff off.

Bedliner doesn't prevent rust. It prevents rock chips, down to bare metal that lead to rust.

Paint the frame in rust bullet, then bed line it. And the only way you can do a good job is if you remove the body and bed from the frame.

So just spray paint it with black paint and be happy.

Btw, you loveattn. Not hate it.

powder coating sucks. Chips and rusts right under the coating. Ever notice how even southern trucks have rusty hitches. They are powder coated.

I painted mine with rustoleum. I used a grinder and then shot 3 or 4 coats of gloss black rustoleum on it. Holds up very well, and pressure washer takes the mud right off.

I did my underside with bed liner from Canadain Tire as well. It turned out nice, and it's easy to touch up when you need to. And you will need to.I also noticed that it doesn't stick too well to areas which still had grease/oil on it. But it's still easy to touch up.
