I used a hair dryer, heated up the area, started to peel, then slowly heated, peeled, heated, peeled, and so on. It takes time, and they do stretch/tear, but it's fairly straight forward.

Make sure you don't go crazy with the heat, you can easily peel the paint if you have too intense of a gun. The real key is PATIENCE, and a whole lot of it. I removed my decals with an eraser type air tool attachment. Round brown puck similar to a gum eraser, worked very well took the sticker and the adhesive almost 100% off.

What everyone else said, then clay the area, polish, and wax

good point about too much heat, you can damage the paint with too much of it. i would have recommended the decal removal air tool, but they cost a couple hundred bucks, at least the good ones do. but they work like a dream

I just let my truck sit in the sun for a bit. No heat gun or anything. Just get a hold of a corner and It should come off very easy.

hair dryer and when it starts to peel off keep it at a 70 degree angle and pull towards the sticker that is still remaining on the truck. Decals are VERY easy to get on and off

Tried the heat gun method, but the decals had been pretty much "baked on " in the Arizona sun . Went up to my local auto body shop, asked if they could remove them, he said sure, $30.00 and 20 minutes later, Taaaa-Daaa !!
I did give it a shot myself, but did not want to risk damaging the paint { Pueblo Gold } in the process. They used a very light buffing wheel, and were very careful, and it looks great, and NO buffing marks and NO changes in the shade of paint color due to " baking " in the sun . Did a quick hand polishing afterward, and now you can NOT tell there was ever any decals there at all Really cleans up the rear of the truck !!

For any left over residue, goo-gone is excellent and safe for removing adhesive gunk. And of coarse follow up with proper detailing technique.

Also, if there is any residue left you can put some 3M adhesive remover on it an wipe it off with a soft cloth or paper towel.

3M adhesive remover can also be used to help peal the decal off as well. It is safe for the paint and clear coat. Its like goo gone for big kids Works better than goo gone too.
