Here's that thread you were talking about:2009 Mirror Swap.
Although, there were never any final pictures...
I'm getting interested in this too (seeing as a mirror project is coming up).
If anyone has any pictures on this swap, that would be awesome!

I got a set off Ebay earlier this year. They are a direct fit and plug and play if you have the right options on your truck. I got chrome skulls with power, heat and directional. They are also self dimming. Cost was $215.00. If you don't have the options you can wire them yourself to work. All it takes is finding the grounds.

more pics. the guys name is thirdgenbird

so to answer your question, yes they fit. depending on the options on your truck, you may have to modify the wiring harness to make the power/heated options work if you don't get the bare stx mirrors. that was discussed a little in the above post.

Mirrors are on truck and look good only problem is turn signals wont light up (everything else works) truck is wired for them and light up when I test the plug but not when connected to mirror. Any ideas?

Check to make sure the pin is connecting. The 09 and 04 plugs are most likely pinned differently so you may have to move around 1 or 2 pins to get everything working right.
