That will match up outside, and probably look darker than the 5% in the back.

If you want to make it darker by overlapping another tint layer I would do 35% over it, should match the rear just about exact.

I've got two layers of 15% on my front windows and one layer of 15% over the factory 18% in the rear (I think it's either 17% or 18% but we'll say 18%). My windows match perfectly -- the front is actually a tiny bit darker when viewed from the inside but all the light coming in the front windshield makes it look identical when viewed from the outside.

What I'm getting at is that I don't think another layer of 20% is going to match the fronts/rears unless your truck did not have factory tint in the rear. It will be closer and look a lot better though. If you put 5% over the factory 18% in the rear it only makes sense that you'll have to put 5% over the 20% in the front to get them really close. I hate for my windows to be mismatched so I always go through this when tinting the windows on a new vehicle.

Only 20% of the light is being let in, so if you add another layer over that you get .2 x .2 = .04, so about 4%. But, why would you want windows that dark? I just removed the 20% from my front windows and had 35% installed. (The legal limit in MN is 50%.) With the 20% tint I had to roll my windows down in the dark sometimes just to see. Plus, I have never heard of stacking layers of tint, It sounds kind of ghetto to me.

You're right.... that's all you have to do in order to figure the tint % when using multiple layers of tint.

Speaking for myself...... I like my windows fairly dark and rolling down my windows to see something isn't an issue for me. It's one of those things where you've got to really weigh the pros/cons -- for me the look during the day out weighs the inability to see 100% out of my side windows at night. The only time I have to roll down my windows is at night when backing out of a parking spot.

It's the only method I know of to get front/rear windows nearly 100% matched.

Sounds about right to me. Did your truck have the factory privacy tint?

yea, it did...the second day I owned my truck i took it to get tinted and the shop that did it said they were gonna take off the factory tint so it would look cleaner and in case the factory tint bubbled up it wouldnt damage it so i said okay(they stripped it for free) but since it was a shop that did it they had to tint my windows "legally" 20% up front 5% rear NM laws

That's odd. I thought factory tint (or privacy tint according to Ford) was always a part of the glass and not a film applied to the glass.

Anyways if your rear windows are tinted a total of 5% then another layer of 20% in the front should match them up pretty close.

I have 2 layers of 15% on my front and a layer of 15 over the factory 18 in back.

Its just the right darkness for daytime...nightime you will be rolling your windows down when backing up.

My girlfriend doesnt like driving the truck at night as she has issues with turning because she states she cannot see out the side windows.

I got used to it
