55 watt reverse lights, is it too much?

This is for my 04 supercrew. So i was looking at buying some 55 watt reverse light bulbs. M questions is, how much can the stock wiring handle? I want to see more when i back up at night, but i didnt want to add aux lighting unless i had too. Thoughts? ideas? throw them all out here!

I wouldn't.

Probably going to have to do the reverse fogs. I've seen some pretty stealthy setups on here.

55 watts is a low beam headlight. Way too bright.

No way would I risk my factory backup light housings or wireing on 55 watt bulbs where 27 or 24 watts is normal. Plus, the housings aren't designed to aim such light.

I'ld find someblack plastic or stainless steel flood or fog lights, mount under neath the truck, forwards of bumper, and run them off a relay which is triggered througfh the regular BU light wire and I'ld put a switch on it too.

LEDs do not put off enough light output compared to a stock bulb. They appear brighter and get you more noticed, but they do not reflect light as well as the filament bulb does. I have LED bulbs that have 40 LED stubs and OEM was way brighter compared to these.
