do you have any experience with painting things? my opinion i would pay someone to do it.. By time you try to buy the equipment you need and the garage bay to keep debri and crap out your prob looking at more money then just giving your truck to someone for a week and paying for it.

I agree with both of these guys, BUT just to answer a couple of the questions.

You can get sandpaper and other things at most of the local partstores. You will need to read a manual on paint prep or something like that to kinda get an idea. You will need a compressor and an paint gun as well. A decent paint gun will run you $500-1,000. You will need a lot of masking tape as well as paper. I would say that you could get away with 2.5 gallons of paint, but you will definitely need to put some sort of sealer and prime it as well. Its going to be TON of work to do it yourself properly, but you can get paint at duplicolor or colortone of other paint stores similar. It will require you to take off all the bumpers, trim, and panels to paint it properly as well.

Unless you're already trained just cough up the extra dough and let a professional do it. You'll be happier with the results in the end.

There may be a couple ways to save some cash if thats your goal. If you stop into a local paint and body shop and ask them what they'll charge and how much cheaper it'd be if you sanded and prepped it yourself you might be surprised. There are places that do it really cheap around here... Earl Scheib or One Day Paint and Body if they're in your area??? You can be coached on prepping to a certain extent but when it comes to laying the paint down its ALL experience... avoiding runs, orange peel, spotting, different textures... GOOD LUCK RogueStatus! No disrespect, but if you have to ask the basics like where to get paint, you have no business painting a truck. We have a shop here and let me tell you, anyone can put paint on a car, but very few can do a good job, and if it looks bad everyone will pick your ride apart. Also a bad paint job can cost you more for a good one from a professional to go over it in most cases versuses painting over the factory paint!
