Question Brightest Reverse Lights

I installed a set of LED Reverse lights hoping to brighten things up a little and it did the opposite. Shoots a straight beam of light out the back so you cant see anything to the sides. Any recommendations on a brighter set of reverse lights that will semi match the LEDs?

i put a set of 20 dollar fogs on my hitch frame and pointed them at the corners of the truck to get some more light. they come on in reverse and you cant see them too bad from looking at the truck

Are you talking about just replacement bulbs for the white reverse lights in the tail lights?

yeah, I put LED ones to replace the existing 3156s but they suck. Cant see anything behind me anymore and I wanted something brighter that will kinda match the other LEDs that are on the truck like the license plate and 3rd brake light.

You probably won't get anything LED (or that looks LED) that'll match the "power" of the stockers.

Leave the LEDs in, and get some bumper fogs, like what Patman shows in his pic. You won't be able to get anything that'll match the brightness of 2 55W fog lights out the back that'll fit in the stock tail light, at least not without worrying about melting the housing/wiring.

The LEDs will get you noticed better at night being safer, but they will not throw off a beam of light. Bulbs do not do this. If it was like a headlamp housing it might, but reverse ligths aren't very well meant to help see areas behind you, morely just what your bumper will hit.

I think I bought these halogen reverse lights from JCWhitney. They are made by DesignTech and are replacement bulbs for the stock reverse bulbs. They are the 3156 style. I also installed two 55 watt halogen fog lights under the rear bumper and boy do they make a difference. They'll come on when in reverse or I can switch them on from inside the cab. I have more pics in my album.
