thanks guys... yeah I plan on using some sort of polish here before long.... and once I get the mirror caps done I think everything will really be tied together.. hopefully they go just as smooth

Those that have done this... or at least familiar with painting... how long before I can wash these... or should this be strictly hand wash for a couple weeks??

I might give it a few days before I hit it with a pressure wash of any kind and to also let the tape adhere? Since I put mine on I have hand and pressure washed with no problems but mine did sit in the garage for about a week curing out and waiting for the weather to improve so I could wash the truck good first.

Fantastic. These stick on pieces, are they plastic? or metal? This seems to be a much easier method of getting PTM handles, I would like to try this, where could I guy these handle buckets & covers?

I plan on this soon... I thought of painting these months ago and I wondered why nobody had done it... funny how people thought of it too

yeah this is a pretty simple mod... and for faily cheap.. I think I spent $40 on supplies.. a couple of those went to buying 3M Adhesive remover because those stuck on ones have been on there for probably 4 years and most of the adhesive wouldnt come off without a fingernail... (btw adhesive remover didnt work very well)

FYI.. I also bought 3M Aircraft grade stripper... and that didnt do much for the chrome on the handles

I also had to buy a new tailgate, driver door and pass door handle because I broke them trying to take old ones off.. Spend another $26 on those.. So I would say my total is under $70 which isnt bad for what big changes it makes, and I still have enough paint left to do the mirrors

well I finished the PTM project... got the mirrors done yesterday! Took me forever, just because I was trying to change fuel filter, and rotate tires inbetween coats of paint. Here was my steps to paint the mirrors.

Blue Tape to mask off around painted section
Sand with 320 grit till smooth
Put a **** Load of newspaper to cover side of truck
2 coats of dark gray primer
Wet sand with 600 grit to remove any imperfections
3 coats of T299 Dark Shadow Gray (dupli-color)
3 Coats of Clear Coat (Dupli-Color)

All Taped Off:

Finished Product:

Also put on skidplate for bull bar, Not sure if Im going to to keep it or not.. What do You guys think??

Well what Do you guys think... Its a big difference than from before... doing the whole PTM

Looks very good, quite encouraging to me. I just may give this a try before colder weather sets in.

takes a while to do... basically just waiting between coats... I would say do this inside of a building or garage.. slight wind will send overspray flying. very easy to do.. plus gives time to work on other things with the truck
