The only prep I did was to tape off the whole front half of my truck (everything but the bed) and then sand each one. It took longer to tape off everything than to sand and paint. I probably went overkill, but it's ok.

can't tell from the pics... but did you just sand the cap part or the whole mirror and paint all of it... meaning the black as well

I only sanded that top part of the mirror, which I think is what you're calling the cap.

Well before paint, it looked really rough next to the unsanded part
But after the paint and clear coat, you could never know if I sanded it or not.

good deal... maybe one of these days I'll do what you did... I really wasn't going to look forward to popping the mirror out with a screwdriver... so maybe if I do it this way it will be easier... can I ask what grit you used?

That looks great. I used dupli-color. So this fusion is a perfect match? I might get some, I need to get the grill surround painted.

Yep the Fusion Gloss White is just right. I don't know what grit I used to sand. I just grabbed a piece of sandpaper from the building and went to work lol

Yeah, if your truck is not black or white it's really hard to get a paint match. Your best bet is to go to your local hardware, see if there's anything close, and if there is test it on a piece of plastic and hold it up to your truck.

I've never messed with krylon... but can't you just look up your paint code and match it with that?
