Fishing line has worked in the past, but there are metal pegs in the emblems. Some have used heat guns, some have not. You shouldn't be worried about messing the paint up, just don't use anything tha could scratch it. 3M adhesive remover or goo gone should work pretty well for getting the residual adhesive off.

there are nuts on the back side you'd need to get access to. You'd have to remove the plastic fender liner, and the access panel on the tailgate to get access to the back of the emblems, then once the nuts are removed then you can work on getting the adhesive to break loose.

Long story short its much easier to carefully tape everything off you dont want to paint.

Or you can look at getting an emblem overlay from patriotdecals.com

Here's a silver one i had on my silver truck before it was totaled.

The combination of a heat gun and fishing line really is the only to easily remove the fender emblems... It's not hard...

i just put on my 09 emblems today and let me tell you it was a PITA removing the glue.

I used a hair dryer , fishing line and goo off, which worked very well, but it took about 3 hours

my advice , is to just tape them off on the truck , i ve done it a few times and it has worked well for me

Fishing line/dental floss and hair dryer

3M adhesive remover works well for getting the glue residue off

Yeah. 3M double sided foam tape. They sell it at autozone for a few bucks for a roll that should cover 3-4 badges.

I would recommend 3M as well...make sure it is automotive double sided tape...I would use the stuff that is used on bumpers etc...most body shops will have it...autozone may not have the right kind

If you have alot of residue left behind from taking the emblems off get yourself an eraser wheel, I used it to remove the tape left behind from a set of hood scoops and it took about 5 minutes after I spent 45 minutes trying to get it off by hand with goo gone and all that other crap. They just fit into any drill and are def worth the money, less than 10 bucks if I recall.

i had removed emblems on my previous truck. and i used gasoline to remove the 3m tape residue it worked like a charm. put a teaspoon on a rag and work it in. it comes off pretty easy. then afterward i washed off the gas then waxed the spot and all..
