help with Lights Behind Grill

so for the past few weeks i have been contemplating getting a new bumper with fogs but recently decided it would be much less costly and easier to just install lights behind the grill. so i guess what i am asking for is picteures and specs including installation, parts, wiring and possibly where you got the neccessary parts and wiring from as well as a ballpark amount and a wiring diagram or brief explanation of how you wired them. it would be greatly appreciated

thanks -
Chris

I recently added Hella 500 Driving Lamps behind my grill. they are not the brightest but do put out decent light. I got them for $114.00 canadian at my local auto parts store with everything i needed in the box. the instructions werent the greatest and me not having any past experience with wiring and such it was a slow and steady process. i say just get some and follow the instructions and you should be fine. I got pics in my gallery

ebay look for dealmonger .... $39 shipped comes with 55w bulbs ... i have them mounted to a switch in the cab next to my cig lighter and strobe switches

pretty simple .... from the relay (1 wire straight to ground, 1 to power, 1 to the switch and then to the lights themself) on a difficulty scale its a 2/5 just need basic knowledge of wiring and know how to use a drill and sawzall, bend some steel and paint man !!

On a side note, the Hella 500's and all are not Fog lamps. Driving lights and Fog lights have 2 very different purposes to them.

Fog lamps are meant to be used in fog. Generally vehicles move slower, so they are very short throwing. They are down low to be below the weather and the are very wide to make sure you can see the edges of the road. They are meant to be used with low beams or alone without headlights.

Driving lamps are meant for long and relatively wide throws. This is meant for use with high beams as the glare will affect everyone in oncoming vehicles. They are only legal when used with high beams.

Just some thoughts to add to the thread.

just go to wal-mart they carry the hella 500's and are only $50. as already stated they come with everything you will need for the wiring and switch. as for the bracket take a look at my profile i have some pics in there on how i did mine and it was easy. for the angled steel and paint it was about $15.
