Nice looking truck. I think it will look good lowered. Oh well, I still need to get around to doing mine.

I wasn't expecting to see my thread bumped tonight,
that's always a nice surprise!

Cool, I wasn't quite sure about them. They had good reviews on Tirerack,
but no one had written about them on a F-Series.
Now I feel a little better!
Thanks!

I was hoping to do it soon, but the brakes ate up some of the drop kit fund.
Safety first, I guess...
But LED, isn't yours lowered?
I know that it's not slammed, but it looks lower than mine...
Or is it just your wheels give the impression?
Either way looks great!

I mainly did it to cut down on the brake dust, but could actually feel a bit better braking performance as well.

Small update:

So the brake parts came in today. I don't trust myself enough to do it
by myself, so my appointment is for next Wednesday. But...
here's pictures!

Well, I'm excited!

Let me know how you like the new rotors and pads, my wheels have been squeaking ever since I got my truck back from the shop. They start squeaking when I start rolling/hit brakes, and I'm assuming it's the rotors and brakes since I've never changed them since I've had the truck (2006).

There will be a review, but really just a bunch of photos!

Okay, long day today...

So I had an appointment this morning at 9am.

...Completely slept through it.

Although, at least it was at my friends' garage. Not too big of a deal.

Anyway, so to make a long story short; the hubs are attached to
the OEM rotors. I have no idea if the new Power Slot's are supposed
to come with a new hub, or if there's a way to remove the OEM
one from the current rotors. I didn't find this out until we'd taken
everything apart. I'm going to post pictures to show what I'm
talking about; maybe somebody has more of a clue than I do.

On the plus side, I got to re-paint my Calipers today. I did it
a little bit differently than last time. Brushed on, rather than
sprayed. More red, less black. You'll see the pictures...

(Oh, and I forgot my camera, so you guys are gonna have to
sit through phone pics - sorry...)

Before Anything

Wheels off

Detail shot (before)

OEM Rotors; with hub - WTH...

See what I'm talking about?

At least I can paint...

All done for today

So does anyone have any thoughts?
I just emailed tirerack the pictures, I hope to hear back from
them tomorrow.
But thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks Everybody!

From what I have read in other posts, the rotor is a pancake rotor like your used to but it really gets stuck to the hub. I think you should have left the hub attached, removed the caliper and forced the rotor itself off with a BFH (Big freaking hammer) or used a puller to remove the rotor.

They come apart but has they said they can get very stuck.

Just keep hammering and they will come off.

Thanks guys!
I wasn't sure, and I just didn't want to break anything.
We'll see what tirerack sends me....
Hopefully I can get 'em back apart in a couple days or so.

Okay, so to make a long story short I called Scott (at the shop) to tell him what I'd found out here. He's convinced that the rotor/hub assembly is one piece. But, he said that tirerack had called him this morning at the shop and they have "parts that will work".

I have no idea what that means, but we'll see when they get here I suppose. I just want to get this project done so that I can move onto something else... (After doing basically nothing yesterday for seven hours, I'm getting kinda burnt out on the brakes. Maybe I'll be more enthusiastic when I get them working.)
